> Kinda weird how they made such a big deal about getting Skye & Raina to a special terragenesis Kree temple and all, but now all it takes is a few molecules of the stuff to turn people and Jaiying went from strictly enforcing a long preparation & selection process for new Inhumans and then decided “the heck with it” and was willing to release the vapor willy nilly all over the place.

Lucy Lawless’ appearance now appears to have been a classic troll-the-genre-aware-viewers casting. I’d imagine they’re chortling about their cleverness.

Jiaying told us why the Inhumans in Afterlife don’t use the Diviners – they only had a handful (5 or 6). So they eventually melted down the Diviners (presumably other than the one Gordon had in his initial appearance), to make gobs and gobs of crystals. Since Skye’s and Raina’s terrigenesis apparently used up that Diviner completely, and Jiaying apparently expected each crystal to be capable of causing terrigenesis, they were able to extend their terrigenesis capability by quite a bit.

And in the light of what we’ve learned about Jiaying, I’m not so sure that she’s been picking Inhumans to undergo terrigenesis purely in their own best interest. Both Gordon and Lincoln were chosen by her, and both seem to feel obligated to her; I think she’d been picking which Inhumans undergo terrigenesis based on who would be most loyal and obedient to her.

Raina mentioned to the Inhuman father that his son would undergo terrigenesis, and Gordon took the other Inhumans home… wonder if the kid will be taking some fish oil?

> Why didn’t SHIELD recover the crystals?

Several reasons: They may not know they are there. Unless Skye tells them specifically what happened, they’d never know they were there. Even if they did, what could they do about it? Deep-sea recovery is a rather specialized and expensive operation. I suppose they could ask Tony or Rhoady to go get them, but that again assumes they know or care about the crystals. Coulson may have just said “Good - they’re at the bottom of the ocean where they can’t cause any problems.” It won’t be until next season (and quite a bit later in show time) for them to connect the dots.

Skye & Raina’s Diviner was destroyed because Trip kicked it. Which was completely unnecessary, and wound up resulting in his own death.

Trip would’ve died regardless; he was in the terrigenesis chamber, and humans don’t survive terrigenesis.

But when the diviner opened and the mist came out, he was unaffected, while Skye and Raina were cocooned. It wasn’t until he kicked it, and got a piece of the diviner casing shot into him, that he got petrified. There’s no evidence that had he let everything go as planned that he would have been killed anyway.

Remember, when Jiaying was explaining to Gonzales how they make their own crystals, she said some of the metal from the diviners got into the crystals, but it doesn’t matter to them, since the diviners are harmless to Inhumans. They went out of their way to explain why homemade crystals are fatal to regular humans, implying that the original Kree crystals are not.

Yes, I picked her out, too, but she was only listed as a stunt double for Bobbi, not as the Ginger Ninja. (Does that character have a name in the MCU or comics world?)

OK, so the crystals dissolve in the ocean, and somehow get absorbed by fish. The fish are then processed by humans. Those humans should be dying/transformed/whatever long before the tainted fish oil reaches the shelves at grocery stores, which should result in the product being recalled before widespread problems occur…

That’s a fairly popular theory around the various boards. I don’t buy it. Venom is a Spiderman property, and as far as I know the MCU only got the use of Spiderman, not the whole of the Spidey pantheon of characters.

I don’t doubt that the Big Block O’Goo will do _something_ to Simmons, but I don’t think they’ll make it much like Venom.

Not necessarily since the Diviner metal caused the petrification. If only the crystal disolved and got in the fish oil it only affect potential Inhumans.

Yes. Yes, it was.

As much as I love Clark Gregg (and have been a Coulson fan ever since he showed up trying to get an appointment with Tony Stark in _Iron Man_), Fitz is rapidly becoming my favorite character on AoS.

He’s had quite a dramatic arc, from his early appearances as half of FitzSimmons, just a wide-eyed scientist whose biggest goal in life was to have a monkey of his own, through his early field ops with Ward (who threw his sandwich away!), then nearly being murdered by Ward and suffering brain damage in the aftermath, followed by his slow, frustrating recovery. Now he’s (almost) a bad-ass field agent of his own accord, throwing out sassy one-liners like James Bond (or Phil Coulson).

Big props to ‎Iain De Caestecker … he’s done a heck of a job acting this role. Fitz is awesome.
