Besides, how could you have battled the Spores without the caffeine? You would have been too weak, and they would have taken over _everything_…silently, invisibly, laughing at you… ---

Once I had the weirdest mold I’ve ever seen. I can’t even remember what food it was on. But it was a light green mat, and there were little white hairs with black dots on the end sticking straight up out of the mat. The hairs were about 2 inches tall. And this is the creepiest part: If you got your hand within an inch or so of the hairs, they would **slowly wave out of the way.** I don’t mean from air currents. I mean they physically moved on their own. :eek: I kinda wanted to keep it around longer to see what it evolved into, but it smelled so bad I had to toss it. ---

Not spores in my kitchen - alien tentacles. There’s some taters under the kitchen sink. They’ve been there for… Oooh, three or four months. Maybe longer. The last batch I left to die just turned into nasty vodka-stuff. This batch, however, have a stronger will to live. They’ve sprouted this MASSIVE bunch of pale pinkish-white tentacles that are slowly overtaking the undersink cupboard. I don’t disturb them, they don’t disturb me. I think they’re keeping the mice down, we haven’t had any in a while. ---

This thread reminded me of a very disturbing thing someone I know does ( **TMI** for some): A excoworker of mine used to let half-full cups of coffee sit around and reheat and drink them several days later. If it had mold on it, she would scrape it off, reheat the coffee, and drink it. ::pukey smilie:: ---

I bought a bag of chickpea flour from a local ethnic store a couple of years back. I used it a couple of times and stored it in a tupperware container. Several months went by before I remembered it again. I opened the container and the flour was full of dead bugs. Dead. Bugs. That had no way of getting deposited inside the container after it was closed. This means I had eaten bug eggs. :eek: And I have to comment on your molasses cookies. The mistake you made was to change too many things at one time. (And to use sugar substitute _bleh_ better to use real sugar and reduce it than to use fake sugar). Here is a guaranteed healthy snack cake recipe: Pumpkin oat snack cake 1 cup raisins 4 eggs 1 lb brown sugar ¼ cup oil ¼ cup molasses or ¼ cup marmalade 1 can pumpkin 1 tbsp vanilla 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice 1 tbsp ginger 3 tbsp cinammon 1 tbsp nutmeg 1 cup chopped pecans 1.5 cups oats 2 cups Bisquick Soak raisins, preheat oven to 350 Stir eggs, brown sugar, spices, vanilla, pumpkin, oil, and molasses together. Stir in raisins and pecans. Stir in oats. Stir in Bisquick. Spray cake pan with Baker’s Joy. Spread batter in pan. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes . Enough Bisquick to make it a cake, enough oil to keep it from sucking all the moisture out of your mouth and enough sugar to make it palatable. Vanilla and nutmeg are there just for the flavor, but everything else is good for you in one way or another. ---

Ooooh, thank you for that recipe, **Zyada** , I will try that! (I have to omit the pecans, however, because I have to limit my intake of even the good fats because of this godawful stone - the oil should be fine, since there’s only 1/4 cup). Sounds tasty enough to not be forgotten in an opaque tupperware-type container and left to grow spores for me to smite with divine vengeance. Mmmmm. Sporeless cake. ---
