So the Globe has this big front-page story about the SHOCKING Obama love affair WITH THIS BEAUTY and the SECRET TAPE that could DESTROY HIS PRESIDENCY! Curious, I decided to actually read it. Well, it claims that Obama had been having an affair with a campaign staffer in '04, causing many “screaming matches” with Michelle, and that his political enemies are waving wads of dollar bills around at any one who will talk. They had an “interview” (if I could call it that) with a driver who wished to remain anonymous ('cause, y’know, giving evidence of the President having an affair turns your life upside-down) who confirmed he’d driven Obama and this staffer to a certain posh hotel. It went on to say that the aforementioned political enemies were searching hard for a security tape from the hotel that shows the two of them together. Such a tape would “explode the scandal.” I really have to wonder if any readers wondered what I did: 1. Why would anyone think that a six year old hotel security tape still exists? Obama was still pretty much a nobody back then, even with his political career being what it was back then. 2. Even if it did exist, what would it prove? All it sounds like it “proves” is that Obama and a _campaign staffer_ were together in a hotel lobby (a hotel that, the story itself admits, campaign finance records already prove he was at). Unless it shows them going up to the fifteenth floor and doing the nasty, why would it be such a bombshell? I know every tabloid wants the next John Edwards story, but really, this is pretty weak stuff. Am I wrong for being so entertained? ---

I just can’t believe anyone would really believe he would cheat. For all that I don’t like him as prez, he and the mrs. just REALLY strike me as a very dedicated couple. But I have to admit, like the OP, sometimes a title just forces you to say “Okay fine, I’ll bite. What’s this all about”. Swear to GOD one that got me to buy was something to the effect of “Raccoon tries to mate with man wearing coonskin hat, he has to get 357 stitches”. 😃 ---
