Just got caught in a _downpour_ at lunchtime, and my linen pants—long, floppy, double-pleated—are _soaked_. They must weigh 20 pounds just from the water. Thank goodness I had an extra pair of shoes at my desk—But I had to sneak into the ladies room and fashion a chic little skirt from a fringed pashmina and six binder clips. I hope the clips hold . . . Ick. ---

Oh god, I gained about thirty pounds in clothes-borne water yesterday too. I was cycling when the heavens opened up. I started gathering the beasts two by two onto my bike, but it was too late. I have to say, though, that it felt interesting when I splashed in six-inch-deep torrents with my sandals. ---

How fortunate that you had a pashmina! One time something like that happened to me and I had just happened to purchase a new skirt on my lunch break. Sadly, there was no rain that day. ---

Back at home, all warm and dry and happy. Thea came back to the office, looked at me and said, “_Dude,_ why are you wearing a _pashmina_ around your waist?!” Happily, she loaned me a hairdryer so I could reclaim my pants . . . Damn, I am packing an extra skirt on rainy days. ---

lol sorry you had to go through that the only bad thing from rain that ever happened to me (in winter too) is to step in a puddle, soaking my shoe(s) completely, then having to spend lots of hours in them, with no hope of drying them out. Never seen such a prune before 😉 ---

That’s right, there are still places in this country where it rains enough to get a person soaked! How exciting for you. When it rains here, everyone rushes outside to stand in it, hoping that a drop or two of moisture will actually make it to the ground before evaporating in the hundred-degree heat. Sorry, I’m just grumpy that I don’t have a pashmina. Or live somewhere it gets cold enough to wear one, even as a skirt. ---

I’m near Youngstown, Ohio, and we’ve had two days of rain, and two more on the way. We’ve been under a flood warning all day, and it continues into tomorrow. Luckily, I am high enough that I won’t get flooded. Earlier today, I went to K Mart (about 10 or so miles away) to get some Faygo.The parking lot had at least six inches of water in it, and it was raining again. I decided not to get out of the car, and went to the local grocery store (five minutes away from my house) and got some Sprite Remix. It wasn’t raining closer to where I lived when I got home, but it startd to as soon as I got in the house. The rain hasn’t been so bad so close to my house, its mostly been north or south of here.
