I think my favourite piece of academic Latin ever was one I saw painted on the wall of Salamanca University last year, and which I haven’t yet forgotten: AKIHITUM ET MICHIKAM SERENISSIMOS PRINCIPES IMPERII IAPONICI UNIVERSITAS LAETA RECIPIT (The university joyfully received Akihito and Michiko, the most serene prince and princess of the Empire of Japan. Followed by a date in 1984.) I love that they still have someone doing that in Latin. ---
