# AI appears to be generating inquiries

Recently I have been getting phone calls claiming to respond to my inquiry for products or services. Inquiries that I did not make. At first I dismissed it as routine spam, but the frequency increased and there was a pattern. So, I sketched a quick list of the call topics - new deck or patio, windows, doors, remodel. Aha, last month I applied to Angies for some handyman work. Part of the application is a detailed list of the tasks to be performed and those you anticipate in the future:

Repair flood damage to moldings and window frames  
Install 3 doors in frames  
Repair damage to patio and screen room  
Comply with insurance company standards

Angies already sent out a guy to do the repairs, but I am getting calls for new windows, new doors, patio and deck construction, flood and homeowners insurance. In every case it is pitched as a response to my inquiry. The caller is highly indignant at my denial. I suspect this is automated. The computer parses the keywords and distributes my name to any vendors with a match. These inquiries could bounce around the digiverse forever.

That sucks!

That happened to me for snowplowing, but in their defense I did inquire about snowplowing. But I didn’t think I’d be inundated with phone calls. A similar thing when I entered a casual inquiry (not an application) via Lending Tree. I am still getting phone calls about that.
