Air Guns and Nitrogen

As I mentioned earlier, all gas used in air tools must come through a regulator. **donkeyoatey **, despite the link reporting 6000 lbs working pressure has it right. The nitrogen in tanks is limited to 22,000 lbs pressure. That is on an untapped tank, (the capacity if you will).

I don’t know where the 6000 lbs pressure figure comes in, nless the person doing the reporting is looking at the hydrotest pressure stamped on the tank which is around 6000 lbs, or three times the working pressure of a DOT tank.

Just to verify. (got a '68 Road Runner in the garage)
Yes, it was Chrysler. And yes, it was the driver’s side wheels that had the LH threads. They were used an most models through '69, though I have seen them on some '70s and a few '71s.

      • 22,000 PSI sounds kinda high to me. The only tanks of all kinds I’ve ever seen were actually filled to 3000, 3500, 4500 or 5000 PSI, the last only used for helium and hydrogen. When I searched Google for “gas cylinders tanks 22000 PSI” I only got gas cylinders and related equipment with part numbers or prices of ($) “22000”…
-My point is that you can’t have any gas compressed to 22,000 PSI because it will have already liquified at a much lower pressure, and after that it won’t compress any more: at what pressure does hydrogen liquify when at room temperature? - DougC
