A poster used the European convention for displaying a date, 20/1/2021. I asked what happened in Icosimber, which might be the name for the 20th month of the year if our calendar had such a thing.
It is funny, in that way that I was sure that exactly one person would laugh along with me. Well, looks like I had the last laugh!
So a poster in Canada used the traditional Canadian date notation and it’s funny? Still not following?
Only because another poster chose to play dumb and deliberately misunderstand it in a weak, but mildly humorous jape. The use of the traditional Canadian notation itself wasn’t funny.
If there’s one thing about humor that I know for certain, is that explaining it further will suddenly make everyone understand and laugh their socks off.
Re. airport disruptions, as previous posters have said, the issue will be departures rather than arrivals. For those of us departing, I found this helpful:

I should have used the iso (and Quebec) standard 2021-01-21. Anyway if the 9,10,11,12th months are September to December, the 20th should be Octodecember. Now I have throoughly slaughtered that joke.
I just flew domestically from DC yesterday and things were actually a little bit smoother at security. The woman at the x-ray machine was just letting the conveyor belt run and wasn’t even looking at the screen. She was talking to a coworker and looking at her. No one was being patted down or scrutinized very much at all. It’s literally the best thing Trump has ever done.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. First he has to destroy the country’s institutions, then he can act like a savior.

But here’s the kicker: the screeners in the US might be “phoning it in”, but the screeners in, say, Beijing will still be doing their jobs because they’re getting paid since their government hasn’t shut down.
