IIRC, Ransom was a remake of a 50s movie which was a remake of a British TV movie.

That appears to be an unusual role for Mifune. Even in a contemporary role in “High and Low”, he maintained his rugged screen persona. I’d be interested to see how he portrays a tender, broken down character. (Too bad I live in the middle of corn fields)
