**Here’s the Background:** So I flipped on the radio at work today and found that it was tuned to the Rush Limbaugh show. I was quite shocked to hear that Mr. Limbaugh was discussing the Vice President’s…package. Now, I don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh, so I don’t really know what he usually discusses, but I sincerely doubt that he normally spends a whole lot of time talking about Democratic genitalia. I just had to listen. The November issue of Rolling Stone magazine features Mr. Gore on the cover. Apparently, Mr. Gore has been airbrushed–below the waistline, if you know what I mean. She had implied that the picture had been “enhanced” in order to attract female votes. Rolling Stone, on the other hand, says that the photo had to be airbrushed because Mr. Gore’s package stuck out _too_ much. Whether the picture was enhanced or un-enhanced is irrelevant. You can definitely tell which side he dresses to. **Here’s the point: (No pun intended)** Why did the Gore camp okay a picture where you can clearly see Al’s manly bits? I have long been wondering if the Gore campaign has been trying to paint Gore as a real hot tamale. I have read several interviews where Tipper alludes to the “passion” that she and Al share. Then, of course, came “the kiss.” Now, there’s this magazine cover. Are they purposely trying to make Gore out to be a sexy guy? Are they doing this to make him seem more human and less wooden? (another pun not intended) Or is this all just a figment of my sick and twisted imagination? ---

It worked for Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy- unfortunately, people eat this up- why do you think Gore’s numbers went up after “the kiss”? why do ytou think Bush’s went up after a good performance on the touchy, feely Oprah show? Policy and beliefs don’t mean much to the average voter. Why do you think Naomi Wolf was hired? Al wanted (and obviously needed) to become an alpha male…but I think they would have drawn the line at airbrushing. Who said that? My money is on Joy or Meredith. Lord, how I dislike that show. Years ago, a former poli sci prof once told me that the masses were asses. I didn’t want to believe him (starry eyed youth that I was ;)) but I don’t think I can deny it anymore. ☹ ---

I can’t believe this! I didn’t even really look at the cover of this issue of Rolling Stone when it arrived at my house, but my roommate, (male, mind you), walks in, sees it and _immediately_ says, “Hey, you can see Al Gore’s pocket rocket!” I responded by teasing him that he was the only person I could imagine that would even notice, much less fixate on such a thing, but I was so wrong . . . Now who’s naive? (I’m going to have to send him this page, and be prepared to eat my words). ---

The radio station I was listening to on my drive in this morning was discussing the supposedly air-brushed Rolling Stones cover as well. They even had listeners calling in to say which candidate they would rather have sex with. And people were shocked when that student asked the previous president boxers or briefs. Maybe in today’s modern society it won’t be the tallest candidate that wins but the one with the biggest package. ---
