And now?
Al Gore’s 40 year marriage is in deep doo doo ?
Who buys a nine million $ mansion when their marriage is about to break apart?
Something is wrong here.

:smack:
Do you think he might be one of the lizard people? They do shit like that all the time I’ve heard.
Are you suggesting a nine inch Dildo would have been a more appropriate purchase under the circumstances?
Have you ever been married, pinkyvee?
Maybe Tipper will live in that one and Al in the old place. Hell, they cold both live there and not end up running into each other for weeks. It’s probably not a bad long term investment anyway. Real estate appears to have bottomed out.
I am happily married.
29 years.
Why?
What?
I’m saddened to hear of a 40 year marriage failing.
My marriage went through a crisis about 15 years ago, and I was thinking about a divorce at that time.
When I was in that mind set, I would have balked at taking on increased debt.
It just seems odd to me.
A nine inch 9 MILLION dollar dildo would also make me wonder …
Hmmmmmmmm?
What’s wrong with this picture?
Maybe I am wrong, and maybe I lack insight because I have never been divorced …
I still think it is odd.
Usually, a 40 year marriage is resilient to most common marriage problems … Unless there was adultery involved.
More accurately, it’s like starting a local Weight Watchers club because you say you want to reduce overall obesity levels in your community, and then paying other people to go to the gym and work out while you eat Cheetos in front of the TV.
On the one hand, you certainly don’t look like you’re practicing what you’re preaching, and it’s not surprising if people think you’re a hypocrite. On the other hand, your actions are in fact making at least some positive contribution toward your main goal.
Or maybe you just don’t know anything about the relationship between these two people and are hmmmmming out your ass. He could have bought the house after they decided to separate. We have no idea. There’s nothing to be gained from uninformed speculation about something that’s personal and not any of our business.
Guilty !
Aren’t we all high and mighty? Might as well close down half of the threads in Cafe Society about celebrities then. If they’re so important that they have to issue a press release to CNN about their divorce, we shouldn’t have to feel guilty about speculation.
They didn’t issue a press release to CNN. They sent an email to their friends, and someone gave it to the press. I’m sure they expected that to happen, but that’s hardly the same thing.
It’s not every day that a 40 year marriage goes down the drain.
I hope they can repair whatever is broken, and work things out.
They always seemed to be happy.
Am I allowed THAT speculation?
Or, is that more of my ass-humming?
Sheish !
Look. People do not follow the Golden Rule. (And I would argue that they shouldn’t, but that would be another thread in another forum.)
The “Tragedy of the Commons” is not that people don’t follow the Golden Rule – that’s not going to happen. The “Tragedy of the Commons” is that many people are too dim-witted to understand that rational government coercion is necessary.
If I’m a grocery store owner who believes that cigarettes should be outlawed, is it hypocritical to sell them anyway? No; it would be unfair to the family that depends on me to turn customers away, but I’d vote to ban them. Et cetera.
People that call Al Gore a hypocrite, or blame George Soros for being wealthy, etc. are … (well, even though though this is BBQ Pit, I’ll content myself with writing …) grossly misguided.
The speculating part was when you said something  was wrong with this series of events and then suggested one of them cheated on the other. We don’t know why they decided to divorce. We don’t know what the house was bought in relations to whatever problem led to the divorce (if there was any one major problem). So there’s no reason to say something doesn’t add up.
No. The problem is that “carbon offsets” are nothing but a scam.
Read this. It’s the same damn thing, just brought up to modern times.
Unless it is my opinion, which it is.
Hey!
Divorce is bad for the environment !!!
Who knew?

That was a given. I was saying your opinion is based on jack squat (or if you like my original wording, “uninformed speculation”).
I read it. It’s in English. After that, I didn’t find anything sensible in it.
Well, the date was presumably correct.
