Some years ago a person I trust told me he knew a person who worked on Capitol Hill, and that that person said that Al Gore was the only politician there who was faithful to his wife. ---

Also in contrast to the rumors of Gore being a jerk in person–in 2000, I spent 13 days on a river trip in the Grand Canyon. A couple of the guides had been on a trip the year before (I think) with the Gore family. They had nothing but the nicest things to say about them, and said they did more than their fair share of the grunt work on the trip. (All the people on the trip do stuff like loading and unloading rafts, etc., not just the paid guides.) And for what it’s worth, secret service guys and [the nuclear football](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_football)came on the trip as well. ---

Forgive me for my unkindness. When I first heard the headline, the image in my head was of an inflating Al Gore moving farther apart from Tipper in the universe. She’s no Kate Moss these days either, but Al will explode soon if he has another Twinkie. Well, the kids are grown so everybody enjoy life. ---
