While I once thought LSU would be the National Champion this year, I now think that Alabama’s defense is too strong for LSU to overcome in Tuscaloosa. I think it’s just bad luck for LSU and good luck for Alabama that their game is in Tuscaloosa this year.
Then again, I wouldn’t be completely shocked if the two meet again in the BCS Championship game. Stanford and OK State are the only two other realistic contenders and they could both still lose.
Please note that I am not in favor of a rematch for the BCS, but just know that the pollsters favor the SEC. If anything, I think Oregon and Boise State should be next in line after Stanford and OK State (assuming Oregon beats Stanford on the road).

You’ve got to think Les Miles is going to pull a Les Miles eventually.
On the other hand, I’ve only seen one game either team has played this year, and that was Alabama-Penn State. Now Penn State lost that game 27-11, but had it not been for extremely shoddy quarterback play from PSU it might have been a lot closer than that. (As a PSU fan I can only sit and wonder what might have been if they had an even slightly-below-average quarterback. McGloin and Bolden are really two of the worst they’ve had in my lifetime. Would we be sitting 9-0 with a signature win right now?) On the other hand, LSU’s only close game was to a much inferior Mississippi State team…

I assume Ware is healthy to play rb for LSU. He’s not as good as Richardson, but damn, he’s a tough and physical runner. I don’t think Bama’s offense is _that_ much better than LSU’s, but I am continually impressed by LSU’s D. They look big and strong, but fast as hell.
Saturday and Sunday nights, national tv will have LSU @ Bama and then the Ravens @ the Steelers. Talk about 2 great games for physical football!

LSU has a big O-line, and they like to run the ball right at the defense. Bama has a stout defense, also can run the ball and have a little bit more in the passing game. LSU has an all world pass defense, and is also stout against the run. I look for a low scoring, hard hitting game that could go either way, but give the nod to Bama because they’re playing at home.

I’m kinda ticked that ABC/ESPN made OSU v. KSU the late game this week. The only upside at all is that I’m going to be traveling for work, and not on the front row of the student section, so I’ll be able to watch both at a bar.
