The fact that it took Hamas, and their violent power-grab, to get the release worries me a shit-load more than any BBC drama-queenery
The view held by quite a few folks where I work is that the Beeb had to keep publicising Alan’s captivity because no demands had been made to guarantee his freedom. In the case of other hostages, there were demands for the release of various political figures or the removal of troops etc but there wasn’t anything like that where Alan was concerned.
Unless I missed it amongst the “I saw Maddy in Malta” reports.
