Just ordered it. I’ve been a fan of his for a couple of decades now.
[nitpick]It’s a pity it’s compressed though. [/np]
And what in Og’s name is “Super Stereo”?[really/np]
Oh, and advice/warning to North American Dopers, the DVD is PAL, region 0. Not NTSC! YPMNBC! Your Player May Not Be Compatible.
That was exactly my range. I did tons of research, and here’s what I bought:
Paradigm Studio/60 mains (roughly $1500/pr)
Paradigm CC-470 center channel ($585)
Paradigm Studio ADP surrounds (roughly $1000/pr)
Paradigm Seismic 12 sub - $1500 or so (which I don’t have yet - still using my old 300W D-Box sub).
I believe to get an audibly better system than that I would have had to spend about twice as much. To me, this is where the real ‘sweet spot’ in price/performance is.
Compare that to the $180 I spent for my bass shakers and amp for them. The bass shakers were almost as much an improvement as adding the new mains were. Great value.
It was instantly my favorite concert DVD, The Group put on an incredible show. The only drag is that the mix is off for a couple of the songs, particularly the one with Tracy Bonham - the vocal track level jumps back and forth from too soft to too strong, but you can improve it by adjusting the center channel level. They make up for it with an amazing performance of Baba O’Riley, and I Feel Love with Annette Strean and Venus Hum.
