Your attitude, location and politics are immaterial in this thread. The matter at hand is your use of ‘dog’ as an insult. I’m tired of it. I have a wonderful year old Norwegian Elkhound that is sweeter, nicer and has more unconditional love than any person I know. She doesn’t complain when her life is rough, she doesn’t get into arguements with people and tries to play with every living creature. She nor any other canine needs to be used as a slur or insult. Dogs are intelligent, loyal, loving animals and deserve better. If you feel the need to curse or insult someone, find something more appropriate or creative. The same goes for anyone else who feels the desire or need to use ‘dog’ as a curse word. ---

I think you’re really up against it with this one. Dogs are considered unclean animals in most of the Middle East\*, and it’s not all that easy to change an attitude that’s ingrained from birth. \*I don’t care where he is now either, but it’s pretty clear where he started out. ---

My girlfriend loves those dogs, and her family has had several. I suspect I’ll have one eventually (since she is moving in, and wants one really, really bad). I’m inclined to agree that the elkhounds are fine animals with none of the character flaws implied by using “dog” as an insult. Terriers, on the other hand… ---

Man, this is a silly thread. “Dog” as an insult is a deeply-ingrained cultural thing. Pitting him for using it is dumb. If you want to Pit him, stick to how he’s a loudmouthed, tin-eared, hysterical psycho with a persecution complex, not on how he uses an insult in a language he hasn’t perfected. ---

Why, I know several fuckers. In fact, most of the adult population that I know has had sex at some point, so they’re all fuckers. Some of the nicest, most likeable people I know are fuckers, and yet people continue to use this term as an insult. Why oh why must people do this when I’d love to come up with picky little rants about the term and complain about people complaining about fuckers. From now on the term fucker is one of endearment, and I’d appreciate it if you use it as such. ---

You think you have it bad with a pet dog? Try walking around with five rats on your shoulders and in your hair. Not only to people use insults towards each other based on the species of my pet, but they treat me like I have the plague (thank you, I’ll be here all week, don’t forget to tip your waitstaff.) I think this is silly to get worked up about. Next thing you know, you can’t call a crazy person a nut because it insults the pecans. :dubious: ---

Is this becuase the second two groups are lighter in color? Some literary version of the old U.S. 3/5 vote law? I think you’ll have better luck getting bitch removed from the American lexicon before you will getting dog (as an insult) removed from Middle Eastern ones. ---

I just kicked my dog across the room. Luckily she is still sweet, nice, full of love and uncomplaining.
