We have to put up with him for two more seasons? We’ve loved the show/game for 25 years but have never been able to STAND Trebek. Patronizing, smug, braggy. ---

The New York Post article said that the producers want to find a “next-generation successor.” Given that Trebek is in his seventies and Lauer is in his fifties, I think he’s too old. I would imagine that they want someone younger, like someone in his 30s or 40s. ---

Kelsey Grammer would be great. Specifically, Kelsey Grammer as Frasier. Though David Hyde Pierce might do well as well. I wonder if they put enough money there if Neil Degrasse Tyson would do it. (He so totally needs a daily show doing something.) OTOH, think there’s any coincidence that Benedict XVI retired just before this was announced? “This is Jeopardy!, with your host the former Cardinal Joseph ‘Mornin’ Joe’ Ratzinger!” ---

I didn’t mind Alex being a pretentious smug bastard. I did hate his interviewing skills, though. He always left awkward moments after the contestents tell their little stories. ---

He said something very wrong after asking about my job. I half-corrected him without actually correcting him, and he didn’t pick up the hint ('cause the smug son of a git actually thought he knew the business end of hydrocarbon geophysics better than I did). After an awkward couple seconds where I refused to either act like a jerk on air to correct him or back down to look like an ass myself, he moved on. ---
