Yup, prim & proper Alexa has hidden gaseous talents. 😃

The man’s grandkids certainly made him laugh and I suspect he had a much better day. Maybe he even tried getting Alexa to fart by himself? 😉

Give it a try. Did Alexa rip one on command?
_Laughter is good medicine._
Proverbs 17:22 - A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Weirdly enough, the Google Assistant will also fart on command, although it refuses to make a burp noise. “That would be impolite.”

I have never understood why toilet humour is considered funny… it perplexes me, why are simple biological processes considered amusing?

Grade school humor includes all of your body noises and products. One of the most popular toys on the planet is “slime.” It comes in every single color, and even can have glitter!

I call it “snot” or “boogers” and insist the grandlings keep it away from me.

My nasty names and grumpy attitude makes it even more fun for them.

Warning: if the kids get it on the upholstery, it will NOT come off!

I noticed a while back that Alexa’s responses to requests like “Tell a dirty joke.” was stuff like:

What has four wheels and flies? A garbage truck.

And yet it does this.

Someone had to program that.

I suppose a shrink could weigh in, but basically all of these processes are things that caused a lot of confusion and embarrassment when we were little and learning about how they are unacceptable to present in public. People tend to joke about things to defuse discomfort. And once you set the pattern at a young age, it just becomes a habit and sticks.

That’s what I find fascinating. Someone put this in the programming, Did they have meetings to discuss it? Power Point presentations, discussing “number and duration of fart noises”? Were there graphs? Did they listen to several sounds to be sure they had the best one?

And when they put this stuff in, and then no one ever finds it (I mean, who is going to ask Alexa to fart? Seriously?), then does someone at the company “discover” this so-called feature and let everyone know?

Somehow, we discovered/figured out this within a couple of days of having Alexa, about two years ago. And, the weird thing is, I wasn’t at all surprised that Alexa could fart on command.

Anyhow, the 5 and 3 year old daughters love it. I can’t answer as to why toilet humor is funny, but to kids especially of that age, it sure as hell is. They’ve even figured out how to surreptitiously add stuff like “poppy poop” and “one million poops” to my Alexia shopping list.

I am not _one bit_ surprised that people, especially kids, have asked Alexa (or Siri, etc.) to fart, though I can’t say it occurred to me until reading this thread! I have asked her what the meaning of life is though (and got a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt - I was really hoping she’d say 42).

I was surprised to learn that you can ask Siri what planes are overhead at the moment, and she’ll tell you the airline and flight number, the altitude, the type of plane, and a few other details. That’s truly something I never would think to ask.
