Algorithmic Music - Is it real music?

I gave you ample opportunity to clarify what you meant in the other thread. I even stated that you seemed confused regarding generative music and using computer tools. You seemed very adamant that the use of a computer meant the computer created the music and not the operator by way of stating that only live music (the kind you do) can actually bring joy. If you want to clarify what you mean, then go right ahead.

Generative music is a nice way of saying created by computer. Regardless of what parameters are set by the operator, the computer is creating the final product, often randomly. I suppose some people find that interesting, and that’s fine, but you aren’t “composing” anything. Humans compose, computers generate. It’s cool. I didn’t expect anyone to agree with me in this thread. People generally don’t like when someone doesn’t appreciate what they do. But I am of the belief that music is about hum…

What artist process? The computer is creating the music, not the “artist.” If the computer is creating music, and the artist is going out for a jog while it does so, then what part of the process is the artist performing, other than to say, “gee, I sure like what the computer created”?

I remember the first time I created something with Microsoft Paint. I was pretty proud of myself at creating “art” with it. But it wasn’t art, it was garbage.

If so, I will try to get humans to play those parts, because call me crazy, but I want my music to sound human, not a computer-generated algorithm

I compose everything I create. I think you might be confusing generative systems and using a computer.
