My friend and I are hosting an alien-themed party in early September and I have been placed in charge of making the food. I decided to mix up some bright blue [Romulan ale](http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Romulan_ale), find some Invasion of the Body Snatchers [pods](http://snacksalad.com/products.html) and get some astronaut ice cream … and then my creativity petered out. So I turn to The Dope for ideas. No reference is too geeky! ---

Pasta dish with saucer-shaped pasta (oricchette or dischi volanti). Sliced starfruit. Star-shaped things like chicken fingers or tater tots. It should be relatively easy to get a cookie cutter and churn out star-shaped/UFO-shaped/etc. cookies. A mound of mashed potatoes sculpted into Devil’s Tower (obscure reference to a minor gag in the movie UHF referencing Close Encounters, but I’d laugh). Unusual presentations-- dry ice in punch bowls, food coloring to make things look weird… ---

Turkey (or a pre-cooked grocery store whole chicken) with a young Alien chest-burster thingie coming out. How you get your hands on the Alien is still to be determined. ---

Something they had at the Faux Quarks at the Las Vegas Hilton that is easy and really effectively alien was triangular hamburgers (They called them Ham-Borgers…groan). It is surprising how just the strangness of the shape really throws you off and makes it feel like THE FUTURRRRE! ---

Do Swedish meatballs. In an episode of Babylon 5 G’kar was hosting a fellow Narn for dinner, and the guest exclaimed “Breen!
