There’s a chain of [Space Aliens restaurants](http://www.spacealiens.com/) in North Dakota and Minnesota; we always ate there when passing through. While the food is pretty standard bar-and-grill fare, some of it is served in creative, alien-like ways. If you live nearby perhaps you could have a visit to get some presentation ideas!

My first night in Korea, my boss took me to a sushi restaurant where the octopus was so fresh, the tentacles were still wriggling. Not sure if a sushi chef is in your budget (this is not the sort of thing I’d recommend doing yourself), but nothing looks more alien than this.

Make tea eggs ( [Tea egg - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_egg) )

Then, cut an X into the pointy end of each egg to resemble the pods from **Alien**.

Or leave them as is. Tea eggs are freaky looking.

A neighbour of mine recounted a meal in Korea where the octopus was brought to the table alive by the chef and sliced up in front of them.

I recall cooking sweet-and-sour baby octopuses… octopi… octopedes… whatever… for unappreciative flatmates who complained that the dish resembled “face-huggers in blood”. 😃

I heard about a sushi restaurant in Japan where they had live fish in a tank, they’d pull one out and slice a fillet to order and then put it back to swin around until more was needed. Reviewer said he was eating a piece and watching the donor swin by. Don’t know if that’s true or not.

Moonpies? Mars Bars? Eggs Sunny-Side up? Maybe not alien, but definitely spacey.

I’ve seen the footage on Youtube. Yep, it’s true.

For slightly _less_ horrifying fare—or at least more humane—apparently sprinkling salt on (dead) frog’s legs will cause the muscles to twitch about quite impressively. (Something to do with Sodium Channels, IIRC) I’ve also seen that on Youtube.

You can thank me for not linking to any of these directly, later. 😃

Oh shoot, how did I miss that?:smack:

I actually did a B-5 dinner. Along with the meatballs I had the fruits Sheridan mentioned missing, and bagna cauda, made by Mr. Garibaldi. I’ve actually become fond of it, although, as Dr. Franklin said “I can feel my arteries hardening just being in the same room with it.”

Don’t forget popcorn. Perfect for enjoying your second-favorite thing in the universe.
