So wait, what WAS the worm- like species or whatnot, I think i missed it when I read the article. I’m just fascinated by parasites, and am quite curious to know. ---

It looks like some kind of flatworm. I think the worm is that yellow or tan colored object running diagonally from the lower right to the center of the top. Some [other](http://www.huliq.com/3257/73281/brain-tumor-no-brain-worm) [articles](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1087937/Doctors-worm-womans-brain-operating-tumour.html) say it was possibly a pork tapeworm, [Taenia solium](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pork_tapeworm). ---

Googling ‘pork+parasite’ (sans quotes) turned up an older news story of a similar incident and gave the name cysticercosis for the one in that particular case. Presumably its the same thing in this case. ---
