I’m just curious, since the meat pies I ate were not bought at a grocery here. In fact, I’ve never seen them at a grocery here in the states. The ones I ate were brought back from someone who visited Australia. As luck would have it, I was in the right place at the right time (alone with a box of frozen meat pies). ---

I’m almost certain that USDA standards apply to imported food, as well. I remember reading something awhile back about how what we in America call “bologna” is largely a result of real Bolognese bologna not meeting some harsh USDA guideline, and thus being illegal meat.
