Don’t confuse \*articulate \*with _reasonable_. If you see doctrinairism or rationalization or gotcha attempts or mere partisan cheerleading, those are no more reasonable or thoughtful for having been stated in complete sentences.

> I really don’t think that is how these things are done. It’s akin to those movie deals between gangsters, where one party says “Well, I should would like it if Guido was dead”, and the other one says “Well, we should would like charges dropped by that judge you pay off.” Next thing you know, Guido is dead and the charges are dropped. No promises. No written deals or witnesses to an actual agreement. Just a couple people saying things they sure would like to happen. That’s how these things work. Same with lobbyists and politicians.

So no real proof but you’re pretty sure that it was treason, with a wink and a nod?

> And I’m not sure you can say there is nothing that Trump has delivered on. He’s refused to enact sanctions. He’s tried his darndest to stop the investigation. He’s normalized Putin. Trump has clearly acted in a pro-Russia was as president. I doubt it’s a coincidence. Just like I doubt the need for members of Trump’s administration to lie to the FBI over and over about their ties to Russia wasn’t to hide anything at all.
>
> That’s not really the issue is it? I know you have your Hillary filter on, but do you really think the investigation is only about finding out how Hillary “cheated”? Or could it be more about members of the Trump campaign/administration lying to the FBI about discussing sanctions with Russian intelligence. Or maybe members of the Trump campaign lying about their financial and political ties to Russia, laundering money, and conspiring against the US.

You’re going to get him impeached on people in his administration lying? If lying as going to hurt Trump, be would be dead already.

> [@](#):
>
> Personally, I don’t think there is much of chance of a smoking gun about an illegal deal between Russia and Trump, but to handwave the entire investigation away is just silly. I also think that the best thing Mueller and his team could do is follow the money.

If there is nothing there then why wouldn’t you had wave it way? It sounds like a fishing expedition. A pretext to use the Russia thing (that you don’t think will actually turn up anything like what has been implied by some) to look for unrelated stuff. Perhaps the Foreign corrupt practices act for the bribes he inevitably gave to oligarchs to get projects completed. Stuff like that.

>
> I agree the Trump Tower convo with the Russians most probably went nowhere. Point is, Kushner and co. were attracted to the bait of Hillary dirt, and their willingness to benefit from Russian skullduggery is just the tip of the iceberg. I highly doubt the Russians brought up the subject of treason, but even if they did, it obviously didn’t register. What did you think the Russians wanted to talk about, borscht futures?

What do you think the genesis of the “Russia tampered with out election” comes from? I though at least part of it was Russian hackers hacking DNC and Hillary campaign emails to uncover incriminating evidence of Hillary and the DNC colluding and cheating to thwart Bernie. Sure, he didn’t look like he had much of a chance but then again, neither did Obama.

So what if Kushner was attracted to Russian promises of dirt on Hillary. What do you think they will uncover? Because unless its clear and convincing evidence of collusion against the national interests of the United States like when Nixon colluded with the Viet Cong to prevent peace until after the election or Reagan’s negotiations with the Iranians to hold onto the hostages until after the election, how do you see this playing out if it turns out that he DIDN’T collude with the Russians against the interests of the USA?

What Russians millions if not billions of ill-gotten gains into Trump’s businesses?

I think there is a lot of confusion about the difference between being a Russian agent and talking to Russians. There might be one person in his administration that might arguably be a Russian agent but even that is a stretch.

If Mueller is just going down dead-end rabbit holes, why isn’t Trump content to just let himwaste his time? Why release a memo that is about as weak and saggy as a three-day old balloon, and proclaim that it vindicates you when 1) the subject of the memo presumably has nothing to do with Trump and 2) the memo itself establishes that the Russian investigation into Trump’s campaign started before the dossier came to light? Why is he trying so hard to trash the FBI as partisan, when it’s notoriously populated by Republicans?

Because he is not clean and he doesn’t want to get impeached because he had sex with a porn star, bribed government officials in every country with a vowel in its name and lied and cheated for most of his life. Remember how Bill Clinton got impeached for lying about a blowjob during an investigation into a real estate deal?

Speaking as someone who would be described as a liberal anywhere south of Maryland, the intelligence of the long time conservatives on this board is noticeably higher than the long time liberals on this board. This board is a fairly hostile environment for anyone that is conservative and only the strong survive. We might have a 95% attrition rate of stupid conservative posters within a year. That’s a very convincing argument. The levels of prescience you are attributing to Putin is almost as hilarious as the “ready for Hillary” folks who want to pretend that Trump was a political juggernaut that couldn’t be stopped, not even by someone as awesome as Hillary. Fucking hilarious.

Just because Putin is smarter than Trump doesn’t mean he owns him.

If you’re nt trying to get him impeached or anything like that, then WTF is the point again? What exactly are you tying to achieve (I ask for the second time in this thread)

Under indictment for lying not for anything thy actually did other than the lying part. You’re going to hang them with lying under oath? Good luck with that.

I think its mostly the result of you writing as if you are reaching a conclusion but then turn around and say “I never actually said that”

If you didn’t actually mean to say that there isn’t anything there, then what do you think is there?
