Oh, for goodness sake! Who cares what Der Trihs or Polycarp believes? They are each PASSIONATE and EBULIENT about what they believe. Do YOU care? P Neither “Religion” nor “Atheism” has anything WHATEVER to do with a single individual’s relationship with …the Ephemeral, Individual, Close-Held, connection to THEIR INDIVIDUAL fears, hopes, dreams, beliefs, backgrounds…Just what they each want to SHOUT at others. Poor sods. They strive to negate one another. And lose. You cannot combat individual experience with Science or an Appeal to Intelligence or ‘proofs’ that convince no one at all. GOD is **real** to billions of folks on this planet. The “First Cause.” Science acknowledges it. And now there is an effening almighty war over what this ‘First Cause’ is. In my opinion - ‘THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ‘A GOD’ OR ‘GODS’ AND ANYONE WHO STILL BELIEVES IN THEM IS AN ANTI-INTELLECTUAL DOUCHE WHO HASEN’T BRAINS ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND THIS’…to, "WE HAVE OUR OWN, INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCES OF GOD AND KNOW THEM TO BE TRUE!!! Der Trihs, you fight this. You blame it all on hallucination and childhood instillation of propaganda and lesser “intelligence” …and you are WRONG. There is a ‘knowledge of God’ that you are unaware of. That you, in fact, REVEL in being unaware of. There is perhaps, maybe, outside of the realm of YOUR understanding or experience, folks who have encountered and know to be _true_ things you have never dreamed of. ---

If someone says to you that all women have penis envy, or that 1-year-olds are mentally equal to adults, or that cause-effect reasoning is a tool used by society to oppress individuals, you know that you’re talking to an atheist, because no one else could be nutty enough to believe such things. Only atheists, who are by definition severed from a large part of reality, could take such ideas seriously. (For the record, those three examples come from Freud, Firestone, and Foucault.) ---
