All right ... so how do I sue U-Haul in small claims court?

Sure you can sue.
But, can you win?
If the trailer had actually injured someone, you would have a pretty good case. But, since all it did was cause some stress and inconvenience, I doubt it’s worth it. Write a strongly worded letter to U-haul, and leave a bad review.

Oh lol I didn’t even look at the date! Thank you for replying though! No, someone driving by was nice enough to stop and help hook it back on, thankfully. But it could’ve been very bad. And the chains weren’t hooked properly either. Like the laziness and carelessness of that stupid employee could’ve cost lives. It’s infuriating actually

I suppose so. I’ve contacted the district manager and tore a strip off them at the location I got it from but there should be some kind of requirement for training on how to properly secure everything. That is literally their job, and it’s extremely dangerous. And to think that maybe the next time, the person won’t be able to stop right away or who knows what. I don’t know. It just seems like there should be something done. Again, I’m rambling lol

Welcome to the Straight Dope Message Board, @NylaShhh !

The rules were different 21 years ago, but these days we ask that legal questions be placed in our IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) forum, just to emphasize that any responses you receive are just the opinions of some online folks and should not be considered the equivalent of professional legal advice.

It’s no biggie. I’ll move this for you.

Again, welcome, and we hope you enjoy your time here.

Moving thread from FQ to IMHO.

You’re so lucky. I’m glad you and your kids are safe.

But, do follow up on that letter.

I’m daily underwhelmed by service persons, anymore. No one cares, no one is trained. It’s appalling.

Good luck.

Thank you
