In the early days we had both html and images – and both were turned off because of abuse issues. If you were fortunate enough to have missed both you didn’t miss anything, I assure you.

I agree with the OP wholeheartedly - being able to explain something with words and pictures on the same page is quite considerably superior to text or images alone, or text with links to images, or whatever. I guess that’s why it works so well in magazines, newspapers, and nearly every website except this one.

If your browser can’t handle images, it may be that the internet has outgrown you.

If you’re concerned about seeing things you don’t want to see… well, I don’t honestly think that would happen very much here, but again, maybe the internet isn’t the place for you. maybe the real world isn’t either.

If the facility were limited to paying members only, with the consequence of serious abuse (posting porn images, etc) being summary banishment, and the consequence of non-serious abuse (posting enormous, distracting, irrelevant images etc) being a formal warning, how big of a problem would images really be?

Meh, my connection _is_ broadband, but it’s still an old and slow-ish computer. The very minor bother of linking to see a pic is nothing compared to waiting for a slow thread to load just because it happens to be full of images. And of course, if it is a thread one has visited before, then having to see pics one has seen previously is pretty tedious.

I _suppose_ MPSIMS might do well with images for all the kittens and the babies. But even then … hmmm.
