# All-Star Game - Anthem by Fantasia

Is it just me, or did Fantasia (American Idol winner) butcher the Star Spangled Banner prior to the MLB All-Star Game?

She clearly sang it in too high a key - she was flat-out shrieking on the high notes.

Sigh.

I was rooting for Diana DeGarmo…

I didn’t bother to listen. It strikes me that the last two really good renditions I’ve heard were both done by someone in the military (both Marines, I believe.) Those would be, I think, this year’s Pepsi 400 and Bush’s inauguration.

Sure, it’s a hard song to sing, but that still doesn’t excuse most of the renditions, especially the big celebrity ones.
