All-Time Favorite SNL Skit?

OK, somebody help me out here. What the hell is that thing? No, not that. That! Right there! :: points ::

I don’t know if it counts as a “skit,” but Steve Martin doing “King Tut” was the best SNL moment I’ve ever seen.

Most of my favorites were mentioned, but a few others stand out:

  • The homeless kids who would wash cars, sell themselves, beg for quarters to go play video games. A doctor uses electro shock therapy to cure them of their addiction.

  • Harry Shearer plays an investigative reporter looking into 2nd rate gag gifts that cause serious injuries. Features Martin Short as a defensive lawyer.

  • Eddie Murphy putting on white makeup and going through the city to see how white people live (go on, take the paper, go on, take it!). His practicing his speech via Hallmark cards was hilarious.

  • Tom Hanks as Mr. No Short Attention Span going on the game show. His celebrity partner at the end was played by Tony Randall. “Okay okay, you wear these on your feet” “Socks” “Great! Okay, these are made of wool, you put them on under your shoes…” “err, socks” “Yes!”

  • Speaking of Hanks, the outtakes from the filiming of “Big” where he pushes the plows over one kid playing baseball, and later as he’s getting water out of the founatain, a long line forms. His response “Hey, I’m big, it’s gonna be awhile”.

  • The Tony Danza sketch “Da War of Da Woilds” that will never be aired again “Da aliens iz here, funkin’ A!”

  • And although it was already mentioned, anything involving Celebrity Jeopardy or Matt Foley, motivational speaker.

I’ll have to add a few -

Lilly Tomlin doing the advertisement for “Shimmer” - “It’s a dessert topping, and a floor cleaner!”

Puppy Uppers and Doggie Downers

Gilda Radner as Candy Slice singing “Gimme Mick, gimme Mick! Are you woman, are you man? I’m your biggest funcked up fan!”

Ackroyd as Mr. Mainway, trying to convince Jane Curtain that oily rags, some lighter fluid, and a lighter was really a Halloween costume for “Johnny Flame.”

Steve Martin as “The Elephant Guy”

Phil Hartman as Frank Sinatra - “Next question - who would your rather bang, Ava Garnder or Lana Turner? I gotta eliminate myself 'cause I done 'em both.”

Will Farrel’s baby doctor skit. Period.

Lilly Tomlin?!???

I’m sorry, but was there another one? The one I saw had Gilda Radner and Dan Aykroyd.

Clinton at McDonalds in 1992, if only for the prescient humor:

I have a few seconds and thirds and maybe a first or two to add:

Fred Garvin: Male Prostitute “I call this one The Snake”
Wake up and Smile w/ Will Ferrell “There are no words! I’m so cold.”
Happy Fun Ball “Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball”
Calvin Klean “A little club soda will get that out.” “Liar!”

“Get off the shed!”

Dr. Poop: I’m afraid I can’t do anything to help your baby; however, I CAN do the robot…

Christopher Walken and Tim Robbins doing the door to door Census.
“My wife is a cougar”

"Lilly Tomlin?!???

I’m sorry, but was there another one? The one I saw had Gilda Radner and Dan Aykroyd"

I think you’re right. Lilly Tomlin was the host of the second show and she did her “Ms. Beasley” character. Dan Ackroyd had her doing “The Antler Dance.”

Two more:

“The Last Voyage of the Starship Enterprise”
“Lifer Follies” – with the best closing line of any skit.

“I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!” Oh, man, that skit makes me laugh every damn time.

This far and no one has mentioned Mike Myers as Phillip with Nicole Kidman? Aaah I love that bit!

“One time my mom’s car broke down, so she gave me a Snickers bar and a Coke and I towed the car home - 7 miles! I was tired when we got home.”

and

“I’m a hyper-hypo.”

and

“You’re the DEVIL!”

People, people, people…how quick we forget.

The best skit ever (imo) is of course Dana Carvey’s classic:

“Chopping Broccoli”.

…chop-UNN brocco-leeheeheeheheeeee!
Ohh ya. Anyone for the disturbing but hilarious Ben Stiller short:

“The H is O”?

My favorite commercial: Obsession for Dogs

The old great musical skits were genius, Bill Murray’s “Star Wars” lounge, Steve Martin’s “King Tut”, Eddie Murphy’s “Hot Tub”, John Belushis “King Bee”

Any “Toonses” skit was guaranteed to have me in tears.

The fake Camera commercials with Stevie Wonder playing tennis and then trying to take photos- it was a riot, and a dead-on parody of a popular Camera commercial at the time.

The Lake Erie (I believe) bottled water commercial- it had tons of nasty crap floating in it.

The Eddie Murphy Mr. Robinson’s neighborhood segments were good too.

speaking of the commercial parodies:

“Oops I crapped my pants!”

The Salem Bitch Trials - She’s a bitch, burn her!

Frankenstein’s evil twin brother played by Mel Gibson. He plans to sell Frankenstein’s bread company to the Japanese.

The Back to the future parody with the Reagans.

I’ll second Zuma’s genius Ronald Reagan. I laughed so hard at that.

Cecil Turtle telling people how to screw up other people’s lives. For instance, go into a bank and write “This is a hold-up!” on the back of a deposit slip then put it back.

There’s these mats at this grocery store which, when you step on them, open up doors. So Rich Hall cuts out some soles and glues them on the bottom of his shoes. Genius.

Seeing Gary Shandling make out with his mother, played by Jan Hooks. Great build up to it as well.

The Run, Throw and Catch like a girl olympics.

Well, nobody seems to have mentioned Dana Carvey as The Church Lady! Now who do you suppose made you forget about this classic routine? Could it be SATAN???

Isn’t that special.
