CNN is reporting that the suspects have been [suspended](http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/04/19/duke.arrests/index.html) , which seems unfair considering that at the moment there is quite a bit of doubt as to what happened that night. I could see suspending them even without a conviction assuming there was more evidence, but this seems premature. ---

Really. And a couple of months from now, when the case gets thrown out of court for lack of evidence, how is the University going to handle the riots that’ll probably break out? This whole thing stinks. Perhaps there is a mountain of evidence which has been kept totally secret, but more likely the prosecutor is just too much of a coward to come out say that he thinks the stripper is lying. ---

Mr. Wiggins, While we’re being absurd, … Having grown up in Chapel Hill and having attended NC Central University, the part of this case that most surprises me is that anyone affiliated with Duke University **has** a penis. Duke occupies my highest “loathing setting”, along with Best Buy. I would gladly devote time and money to a project with a substantial chance of making either fail. ---

It’s a huge deal; the common wisdom is that every winner will have it noted in the first sentence of their obituary, without exception. Even if they cure cancer, it’ll read: “Heisman winner John Doe, who cured cancer, died yesterday…” Anyway, the joke is that he sold out when he hit it big, I guess. (He got drafted high, made a bunch of money in the NFL, retired and went on to do movies, married a white woman, etc…) ---
