About a year or two ago, I started a similar thread on this topic but specifically about [David Beckham](http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=David+Beckham&id=161556AB4B1AFD50FEE4CF7C132B404E4D4FEF2E&FORM=IQFRBA#view=detail&id=161556AB4B1AFD50FEE4CF7C132B404E4D4FEF2E&selectedIndex=0). I had noticed that over the course of about a year, there were at least a dozen ad campaigns (in print and on television) all based around the supposed irresistible magnetism about him. Every ad was basically the same, Beckham was on the beach (or some place where he could walk around shirtless), and every female in a thousand yard radius flocked to ogle and leer at him. I totally didn’t get it. I never saw him as anything but marginally passable. (But then, I guess the rest of the world did too - the ads have apparently dried up.) ---

I’ll go Julia Roberts. There’s a scene in America’s Sweethearts where they show Catherine Zeta-Jones (who we are supposed to dislike but who was at a beauty peak) and then Julia Roberts and I recoiled at the juxtaposition. I liked JR in Pretty Woman when she had a lot of hair to offset the teeth but now when she has flat hair and her same horse walk, nah, not hot. Or a beauty. ---

_Jennifer Lawrence!?_ Srsly!? And arguing about pixie cut or long hair? She can be dark like Katniss, blonde, long-haired, pixie-cut, flecked, feathered, curly, straight, or shave her head and tattoo scrimshaw-style depictions of iconic scenes from _Moby Dick_ all over her scalp, and no matter what, she’d be about the hottest thing ever. You people need help. ---

Maybe it’s just me. When I hear the word attractive I think of the face not boobs. Not saying there is anything wrong with boobs. I like boobs. But I agree that in The Mask her face was the most beautiful it has ever been. I do think it was because she lost too much weight after and it made her features more severe. I do not consider Jessica Alba to be “hot.” I will grant you that she is beautiful. But 'hot" also implies a sexy, passionate “go for it” attitude, and her refusal to do onscreen nudity, even when playing a stripper, banishes her from the “hot” category AFAIC. ---
