I have to vote for Paris hilton. She has a plain rather disproportioned face, the body of a starving 13 year old boy and absolutly no personality. If she weren’t filthy rich no one would look twice at her at a club. She is the reason guys need wingmen. She is not even the hottest Hilton sister. ---

I have my own theory as to how Orlando Bloom became known as a major hottie. I didn’t see the first _Lord of the Rings_ movie until it had been out on DVD for quite a while. I hadn’t read the book either (I know, I know), but knew enough to know that the character of Legolas is more a supporting role than a leading man. Since Legolas was Orlando Bloom’s breakthrough role, the one that took him from unknown to major teen heartthrob, I assumed the character must have been expanded for the movie. Surely Bloom didn’t become a household name for playing a small role! When I finally watched the movie I was rather surprised to see that the part of Legolas really \*was \*fairly small. He didn’t have many lines at all. But considering that the character didn’t really say or do that much, Bloom got an awful lot of closeups. I decided this was what really made him a star: anyone who saw _LOTR_ was seeing Bloom’s face again and again and again. It was almost like the audience was being conditioned to respond positively to his face. It started to seem ridiculous after a while. Something would happen, and there would be a closeup of Legolas reacting. Someone would say something, and there would be a closeup of Legolas listening. He wouldn’t even SAY anything, you’d just get a shot of his face and then the movie would continue on with whatever was happening. I couldn’t decide if this was meant as fanservice for women in the audience (“Hey ladies, in case you forgot, we have a rather handsome young man in the cast! Here’s a closeup of his face!”) or if maybe Jackson himself had a crush on Bloom. I started to imagine all his closeups being decorated like prints from one of those digital photo booths, with glittering pink hearts, roses, and maybe “TOTAL BABE!” written above his head. When discussing the movie later with a friend who had read the books, she said that she didn’t think that all of Legolas’s useful skills carried over well into film. “He has really good hearing, but how do you show that in a movie?” Suddenly I understood! “Oh, THAT’S why he was always being shown listening to things! It’s because he has such good hearing!” So I now believe that Jackson had a legitimate story-related reason for including so many closeups of Bloom reacting to things, but I think the effect for many audience members was not so much “Ah, that character has excellent hearing!” but “Who was that guy who kept getting closeups? Is he famous? He was pretty cute…” ---

(Your sister loves Alan Rickman too, I bet) 😉 Some of the women mentioned (Sharon Stone, Pamela Anderson, Cameron Diaz) were imho actually quite pretty when they were younger. I think the Hollywood pressure machine, which refuses to let a woman age naturally, is the main cause of their current lack luster looks. Sure, they aren’t slightly overweight and ‘soft’ like an average 30-40 American woman, but this leaves them hard and plastic looking. Though I’m in total agreement about Julia Roberts. I never saw the appeal even when she was younger… ---
