# Allowed to Cruise for Men?

I have a friend who’s trying to meet some professory older types in her area,\* and I happen to suspect that we have that sort here. Would I be allowed to create a thread to help her maybe find some people here?

No.

Threads specifically to find dates – whether for one person, or a general thread in which anyone who’s on the market might join in – have been closed in the past and will be closed in the future. We are not a dating site.

Of course, if your friend wants to join as a regular poster, she may well find friends/beaux/dates here as well – there have been a lot of Doper couples over the years, with relationships lasting anywhere from overnight to marriage-and-kids.

Yeah, I’m not 100% clear what rule was cited the last time this came up, either. ('Twas before my ascension to modhood.) I was looking at the registration agreement when FF crashed on me as I was writing the first version of my answer, and my guess is that it’s based on the big catchall paragraph:
