# Alpine = Alpeen?

**Die\_Capacititrix** posted _Vilvadi_. I thought it was ‘Vivaldi’ at first, but apparently Vilvadi is some sort of Hindu thing. I doubt many people in the U.S. have ever heard of it. (I haven’t.)

I used to watch _Match Game 73_ after school. (It was a U.S. game show of the '70s.) The host, Gene Rayburn, always pronounced it ‘van Gockhh’ – rather exaggeratedly, as if he was trying to be funny. ISTR that he was actually an intelligent person, and that he may have been trying to educate under the guise of comedy.
