I don’t have any fancy ringtones and I keep my telephone on vibrate basically anytime I have it in my pocket. I don’t know about theaters blocking signals here, I haven’t seen it anywhere in Europe, but I do know that Virgin trains in England were planning to put some sort of foil over the windows of their commuter trains to inhibit telephone signals. Virgin got a lot of flack about safety issues; it seems a lot of women used their telephones to arrange to be picked up at their destinations and if the telephones didn’t work then they might have to be hanging around some rural train station in the dark waiting, so I don’t know if the foil was ever implemented. Ming rings the theme to Itchy and Sctachy. I’ve never met anyone else who uses that. Yes, I set to silent when appropriate. Also, that site that **Reverend** linked to – I really think that it’s all staged, but something tells me it might not be. If it isn’t, they’re displaying their crimes for everyone to see – not too bright. But if it is fixed…some of those folks feigned suprise and anger pretty well. Either way, it’s pretty funny. ---

I can compose my own ringtones, and have before, but usually write my favourite tunes using the composer. In the past, I have had [ul]Banjo theme from _deliverance_ Star Wars- Imperial March Star Wars- Dueling Fates The Clown College music from the Simpsons [/ul] amongst others. I like hearing a creative tune, but cycling them in a pub deserves a red hot poker jabbed into the persons Urethra. ---

Still pretty funny, though. I think I would just giggle if those guys smahed my phone. When I stopped laughing I’d probably be pissed. ---

Wife and I were at the movies a couple of months back, and some teenage cocksocket (Thanks, jarbaby!) had to sit on the same fucking row as us. Well, predictably enough, his phone starts ringing at maximum volume. The bst part is, when I looked over, I saw that his phone was **flashing multi-colored lights as it rang.** I half expected coins to spray out of the damned thing. My God. This little twat was thinking he was cool, and the first (And only) thing that popped into my mind was how much monkeys love shiny objects. (I’ll say this much though: The theater usher did a great job of shutting him and his worthless little friends up. I’m just glad Monkey Boy didn’t throw any feces at anybody.) ---

I am bashing the inconsiderate bastards who forget how to behave in public as soon as they purchase one. \*\* One of the more interesting ‘promises’ of Bluetooth enabled cell phones are privacy zones. basically, is a wireless signal that tells any phones with the option (ie. ALL bluetooth/next gen phones) to switch to silent signal/vibrate mode. So, when you enter a resturant, the phone switches to vibrate mode as long as you are in the resturant and the resturant has installed and enabled a privacy zone… Can’t wait. 🙂 ---

It’s a sign of the times. Our weekly church bulletin, with the order of service, announcements, etc., now has a discreet little line near the front, asking folks to turn off their cell phones and pages before the service starts.
