Know ye this for all time: I (think about) sleeping around, and I always (on the rare occassion that I actually score) use a condom and practice safe sex - and I remain 100% STD-free, as I have for the duration of my sexual life. Your concern is duly noted. And now that we all know The Truth™, I expect to never again be lectured on this topic on the SDMB. Not every person needs to use a condom every time they have sex without fail. I’m pretty sure that my grandparents have not bought condoms in the last forty years or so, and I’m equally sure that neither of them has caught an STD in that time. For my 87-year-old grandmother to whip one out at this point “just in case” _would_ be an insult indicating lack of commitment. Even though she has been married for 64 years. For some people, in some situations, the risk of sex without condoms is small enough to be acceptable. For others, it’s not. Preaching about what _might_ happen to those who have knowingly and intelligently assessed the risks of their own personal situations is just insulting, in my opinion.
