Are Ed and wife trying to figure out why there is water on the floor, or is this part of a bigger mystery (e.g. who broke into their house)? Is the answer to the puddle part of the mystery simply that someone took a shower there? ---

Let us call the bathroom that the wife insisted had a puddle on the floor Bathroom A; and the bathroom that Ed checked Bathroom B. Was there ever really a puddle on the floor of Bathroom A? Did Ed think his wife was talking about Bathroom B when she was talking about the puddle? Is Bathroom A the same as Bathroom B? Are Bathroom A and Bathroom B connected or adjoined in any way (above one another, below one another, etc.) Did it matter to Ed whether there was a puddle on the floor of Bathroom A? * * * JMCJ “Y’know, I would invite y’all to go feltch a dead goat, but that would be abuse of a perfectly good dead goat and an insult to all those who engage in that practice for fun.” -weirddave, set to maximum flame ---
