we have to make a few assumptions
Biggest one Hitler is a slightly different Hitler (slightly)
I think he could have pulled off even the polish corridor, if he had just stopped with retaking previous territories, AND going in them in a way that the people there though oh hey! Hitler the Liberator! Rather than fuck it, off to the oven, or do you prefer a bullet.
He would have to put less feet in bed with Stalin of course.
And dont even consider Japan at all, that is a mess in the making and is just going to anger sleeping giant and his factories O plenty
Dont razz the brits, dont go storming through the ardennes and fuck up france.
Why? well it’s untenable obviously, and honestly they would have gladly let the other things go to buy your happiness so to speak and avoid the unpleasantries reminiscent of WWI.
As far as Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Hungary go, put out the word that they could become Reichfruendin or some such, keep things pleasant and when/if joey decides to engulf them, guess who wants to join up as a Reichstadt?
Just have to give it the right presentation.
I would like to say…
And the death camps can NOT happen, waste of potential supporters and patriots, not to mention as word of it keeps trickling out, opinions start to get ugly
find another scape goat.
But unfortunately the large majority really were not all that moved or bothered at the time, only guilt after the fact.
Oftentimes in these threads people will say, “If Hitler didn’t attack, he wouldn’t be Hitler, or if Nazis didn’t invade, they wouldn’t be Nazis,” which I think is kind of threadshitting since it is a hypothetical. But anyway -
Nazi Germany might still exist today, or at least, exist much longer than it did. I think it becomes an unsightly ally of the West, though, when Stalin and the Soviets become the real aggressors in Europe, maybe starting to conquer westward by the late 1940s. Essentially it would become like the real Cold War itself, except Germany wouldn’t be partitioned, and would still be Nazi.
I thought the general answer was that the USSR attacks eventually. Just as “What if Hitler didn’t declare war on the US”…the answer is the US keeps poking the Wolf until it has no choice. Or waits until the Wolf effs up and sinks a US ship.
With hypotheticals, you have to differentiate between what is not realistic and what is. For example, Mr. Kobayashi often asked what would happen if a modern weapon were sent back into WWII times. That’s fine because no one is suggesting that it’s possible. That’s one extreme. Another example would be what if South Carolina were to have not attacked Ft. Sumter. That’s a realistic possibility and is by nature completely different than fantasy.
The problem with this OP is that it’s attempting to sound like a realistic scenario but in reality is not. This was so much against his nature that it’s the equivalent of asking for pink unicorns. Which is fine, we debate fantasy all the time, but we simply ask that it is labeled as such.
