Am I supposed to give my newspaper delivery person a Christmas Tip?

I know what you mean, Lure. I only recently re-started the paper after almost ten years without one. The reason? I have a puppy.

I’ll be tipping my newspaper delivery person. She’s young, with a baby, but more to the point, my newspaper turns up on the doorstep of my apartment every morning, even thought this is a secure building. In other words, I don’t have to get dressed to pick it up. It’s also almost always there in time for breakfast, and I’m an early riser. In other words, she deserves it. If service weren’t so good, I’d probably tip anyway, but not as well.

An apartment building was a plum when I was a carrier. You got to walk in a warm, dry building instead of plodding from house to house in the wind, cold and rain. One of my friends had a route in an apartment building of retirees. Very nice people, not at all like the bastards who spit in my face from a car after taking a paper. I still wish I could find those guys in an alley one by one…

My old route was an apartment building. The stairs and second floor landings were outside. . . and no stair served more than two apartments. Up and down and up and down.
