From what I read, it seems to be practically a truism that pizza is good however you eat it. I disagree. I think cold pizza is gross. Even reheated pizza is never quite the same as fresh-out-the-oven. (Or maybe I just don’t know how to reheat it). Am I alone here? What do you think? ---

I’m also not a fan of cold (or room temperature) pizza. My hierarchy: Re-heated (oven) \> re-heated (microwave) \> room temp \> cold ---

Cold pizza’s better than no pizza, but a quick nuke, followed up by 5-10 minuted oven crisping is my leftover reviving protocol. ---

No, definitely not. I love garlic, but anything with garlic in it is automatically gross if served cold. ---

When I make my own pizza dough from scratch, it tastes fantastic when it’s fresh out of the oven. But it’s a completely different, equally good taste when it’s cold from the fridges. The onions are nice and biting and crunchy, and…iunno, I love it cold! ---

Room temperature pizza is actually better than cold, but even pizza that’s ‘marginal’ when it’s hot tastes OK when it’s cold. ---

I don’t like cold pizza, or really any food that is supposed to be hot, served cold. And I would never, EVER eat pizza that’s been sitting out overnight or even longer, unlike _some_ people around here. Gross. ---

It’s not that cold pizza is actually good, but the thought process goes like this: 1. The only time one should eat cold pizza is when you wake up with a hangover and it’s sitting there from the night before, still in the box. 2. Since you’re hung over, you need to get some food in your stomach, stat. 3. You eat a slice, and the lycopene in the tomato sauce starts to nourish you; the grease in the cheese starts to settle in and absorb some of the alcohol; and you finally have some solid food in your stomach. 4. Suddenly you start to feel human again, and the best part is, it took absolutely no thought or energy to prepare. This is gold. Cold pizza! ---

And I love cold pizza. Then again, it took me forever to discover foods that I actually think taste better warm. Anything with tomato sauce (and I mean sauce, not soup) tastes better cold. If it’s going to be hot, I’d rather dip it in cold tomato sauce. ---

I don’t understand why anyone would willingly eat something cold when the microwave is an option. I mean, sure, it’s not a great method for heating up pizza, but it’s fast and barely more work than eating it cold. Yuk. Hot things should be hot, cold things should be cold. There are a few things that go both ways, but pizza is not one of them. And same with the sitting out overnight. That makes me scared. ---

I’m not a huge fan of pizza fresh out of the fridge although occasionally it’s ok. Room temp pizza is great and in some cases better then hot pizza. I think part of it is the texture is much better and the flavors have a chance to meld with the cheese. My rule of thumb is the greasier the pizza the warmer in needs to be but the more ingredients the colder (longer time together not moving into freezer) it needs to be to be great. Most of the time the pizza that I order intersects at breakfast with a beer the next morning. ---

One of the best pizza I’ve ever had was cold, leftover BJ’s deep dish eaten on the road to Hana on Maui, where there are no food places for many miles. That being said, I prefer hot pizza. ---

Leftover pizza is one of the greatest gifts of the pizza gods. I’ll eat it cold, but I’d prefer to warm it up a bit first. ---
