I know, why should we trust a bunch of wrasslers on animal welfare? Kamala probably had a hand in it.
They are normally listed “vulnerable,” which is one step below “least concern,” but better off than the various “endangered” categories. In certain areas, populations may be more or less healthy, but I don’t think they are a serious concern in Zimbabwe.
The way I see it, he illegally hunted an animal that wasn’t even a challenge in the first place. Then they tried to cover up the crime. And he paid an obscene amount of money to do this.
I’m not about to go on Twitter and personally attack the guy, but I’ll shed no tears as his career is destroyed and his life of luxury ends. Karma’s a bitch.
And according to Aus news reports, this isn’t the first time the arsehole has killed ‘wild’ animals in similarly dubious circumstances…so it’s not like he’s a victim of local rangers giving him false information.
The man has too much money and too many guns…fuck, does it really make him feel more manly to kill? I just don’t get it.
Hope his career is kaput, hope his photo is displayed on every entry port to countries with game parks, and hope his gun backfires into his face knocking every one of his teeth out. Now THAT would be karma.
Not outraged particularly but the sight of a man who is clearly something of a cock suffering for doing something only a cock would do appeals powerfully deep within me. The subset of humanity which gets its jollies out of waving weapons around in whatever context needs to feel the ridicule their behavior invites.
140,000 out of how many Americans? Did you do the math?
Did a similar petition result in Piers Morgan being deported back to England? No.
140,000 assholes urging the US government to extradite someone to a foreign country is simply emotional diatribe. There is no warrant for the dentist in either Zimbabwe or in the U.S.A… But the ignorant lynch mob demands blood.
I recall the early e-mail petitions of the 1990s, the ones demanding things like the Taliban stop oppressing women. All bow before the mighty e-mail petition.
It died in a way that Zimbabwe considers to be perfectly fine as they are the ones issuing all of the licenses for all the big game hunters that are hunting there all the time and have been for a long time.
It did not. According to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, the hunt was illegal for several reasons, including the fact that the landowner did not have a permit to take lions on his land. While it’s possible that the hunters misled him about the fact that Cecil had been lured out of a protected area, if he were at all concerned about the legality of the hunt he should have at least asked to verify that the permits were in order. At the very least he was criminally negligent. Blindly trusting that the professional hunters had made all legal arrangements without verifying would incredibly stupid, even giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming he wasn’t in connivance with them.
