Sometimes I pull out old cds and give them the same treatment. I’d like to say that I do this to memorize the track order, but I’m not. There are MP3s I’ve listened to on a loop for hours at a time too, just that one MP3. Most recently “Still in Love” by The Stills.

Yep, yep and yep. I’m even listening to the same song as you. I swear “Still in Love” is musical crack.

Well, this topic has shown me that I’m not alone. **SciFiSam** , drop me a line via email! I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the Mars water discovery, the 6th mass extinction, and string theory! Your point about socialism is almost exactly what I said a couple days ago. I was working with a partner and declared that socialism is a great concept. My partner replied “Yeah, but it doesn’t work. Russia.” So I explained that Russia was communist not socialist. Socialism without dictators should work.

I still listen to mix tapes (yes, cassette tapes), that I made in high school, or that old boyfriends made for me.

And I really enjoy Dell crossword puzzle books, particularly Anacrostics.

And I may be the only person with this particular combination of academic interests: poststructuralist feminism and evolution.

Yah, I eat candy bars in a funny order too ! Coffee Crisp (Canada’s greatest treasure) is basically layers of wafer with coffee-flavoured stuff in the middle, coated in chocolate, and I eat them layer-by-layer all the time. And O Henry (nougat surrounded by chocolate and nuts etc) I eat the chocolate part first, leaving an unappetizing strip of chewed-up nougat to eat last. And I eat pastries with icing (eg donuts, cake) from the bottom up.

I’m the opposite. I name everything. I give multiple names to things.

For example, I have a cat whose official name is Irving. Other names:

Irvida Blue
Irvis Purrvis
Wubby
Wubbish
The Lone Wub
Wubbadee
Furving
Purrving
Squeaky
Squeaky Frome

I name all pets, stuffed animals, cars, everything. It’s weird, I’ll admit. 😃

the saddest thing I’ve ever read 😉
[Eric Bogosian](http://www.ericbogosian.com), is an author, playwright, and actor, most notable for the play **Talk Radio** of which there is also an Oliver Stone movie made, starring Eric himself.

He’s caustic, funny, angry, brilliant and…for my dollar…real real sexy.

When watching movies at home, it is _vital_ to be watching the DVD player’s counter when it hits 11:11, 22:22, 33:33, etc. Of course I miss it 4 out of 5 times, which always causes great distress when I glance over that the counter at 11:16 or so.

Sometimes when bored I Scrabble-score random words from billboards and signs. Meeting agendas provide an excellent source of words that need to be scored, and when finished, I also have to score the parallel plays that I can find using words in the agenda. If you say something to me and use an uncommon word and pause before responding, your statement may have required a second to sink in, or I may just be scoring your play.

I have been worried recently that someone will discover my weird gum habit. I buy bags of RainBlo gumballs and chew them while laying on my bed reading. Not all at once- I pop a few random gumballs in my mouth, chew till the flavors start to go (maybe 20 seconds) , spit out the wad, and start again. If I have a good book I can go thru a bag a nite. I have started buying my supply at different stores so people won’t wonder what I am doing with them.

I CANNOT go to sleep at nite without taking a shower, no matter where I am, how tired I am, or how sick I may feel. Can’t do it.

sometimes I will spend an entire weekend in my house without getting dressed or going outside , except to get the mail and the paper.

That’s not THAT weird, I do the same thing. Though I live in an apartment, so it’s not like I have anywhere to go. My girlfriend usually has the car cause she works, so I’d just be wandering around the complex.

And, frankly, considering the amount I pay to live in, light, heat, cool, provide running water, have cable, have TiVo, have DSL…I’m just trying to get my money’s worth.

I miss Dell’s themed crossword books… They used to have the coolest crosswords in them… When they announced they weren’t going to publish them, I coulda cried.
Coffee Crisp… I was introduced (rather sadistically, I think) to these wonders by a colleague that commuted from Canada and now have lost my supplier. Hmm, I should start a new thread called “I will pay your subscription for Coffee Crisp”

Butchered that post AND forgot that I wanted to say…

Am I the only one that plays Tetris in her head? I used to have a serious Tetris addiction - _ **serious** _ - and eventually forced myself to stop playing. There’s no such thing as just one game with me. If I touch Tetris, I’m done for for hours. But every once in a while, especially when I’m stressed or can’t focus, I play a game of Tetris in my head. What’s really bad is, I often lose.

I do those two, AND I chew on the inside of my mouth all the time.

I also add up numbers on license plates and break them down to one number, i.e. 3456 = 3+4+5+6 = 18 = 1+8 = 9.

Virginia is the state with the largest number of personalized license plates (and yes, that includes California), so figuring out what the HELL the person in front of you is trying to communicate in seven characters is sort of a state hobby. This makes it almost a compulsion (for me) to find meaning in regular ol’ license plates as well.

And now I can contribute! I haven’t found a truly satisfying keyboard since, well, I used typewriters as a kid. And I’m 23, so I should be fine with computer keyboards. The responsiveness on the one I have now is pretty good, but I was watching something a couple days ago and someone was clickity-clacking away and I said, “Jeez, that’s the way to write. Wish my computer did that.” So I went and found a program that did it. It’s not perfect, it just does electric typewriter clicks and DINGs when I hit Return, but it’s better than nothing.

While I was on this quest, I found an idea someone had for a compu-typewriter. Put an LED screen where the paper went and make the keyboard the old typewriter keys…

And I said, “Shi-it, I’d buy one of those bad boys in a second.”

Now I’ll turn it off when I play games and stuff, but there’s something innately satisfying about clickity-clacking out a paragraph.

My girlfriend’s gonna go nuts if I do this around her, I’m sure… 😃

Yes, I mentioned I did that, too (post #27). I ignore the numbers, because I’m math-phobic, but I love figuring out words that fit the letters on license plates. Numbers bad, letters good!

Let’s see, what else for me? When I wasn’t dieting, I would sort and eat Skittles
and M&Ms by color.

I collect old glass half-pint milk bottles. The ones with the painted-on labels.
And old tins. Preferably for spice, cocoa, coffee and tea.

I suspect that I’m probably the only person who puts M&M’s in a cup, covers them over with water about two inches above the top layer, waits for the candy coating to dissolve, stirs it up, and eats the whole thing with a spoon. M&M soup!

If anybody else does this, I will be truly amazed. 🙂

(I’m also somewhat obsessive about _how_ this concoction is eaten: three M&M’s and a spoonful of liquid at a time. Makes it last longer. 🙂 )

Okay, you’re making me feel really old, and I’m only 34.

In re the keyboard, you might want to try to track down an old IBM keyboard–they had the best tacile respose I’ve ever encountered. And they made the classic clicking sounds. I forget the details, but it had something to do with the way the spring under each key bent. Rather than just compressing in a straight line, they also bent to the side.

And your compu-typewriter was once better known by the term “word processor”. You could find them in office-machine stores.

I too, am a huge fan of old keyboards. I just love those old IBM keyboards where the buttons are about an inch high and make an extremely loud, hollow KATHUNK sound everytime you press a key. It sounds really neat when you type real fast on one.

I chew the inside of my mouth too. Well, not really chew but I bite off the skin or whatever it is hanging around in there.

I have an unnatural palm tree fetish. It’s borderline obsessive. If I see a picture of a palm tree, or a clock or something with a palm tree on it I instantly want it no matter how gaudy or ugly it is. Palm trees are so cool. I would like to decorate my entire house with a palm tree theme.

And I’m a really big fan of Australia. I don’t even live there. I live in Kansas which is probably the furthest from Australia you can get. I love shows about Australia and reading about Australian history. Its so cool compared to boring old US history. I hope to live there some day.

Oh and I play with my hair as i’m falling asleep. I like to tangle up my hand in my hair so it sticks. I’ve not heard of anyone else doing this.
