I admit, when I was in my uber-geek comic book phase in high school I thought the movie sucked. But now that I am a grown up and realize that a giant spandex skull suit would not a good movie make I think the movie was at least passable. Dolph played the role of Frank Castle pretty respectabley when compared to Captain America. Besides Lou “The Movie Killer” Gossett, what was so bad about the movie? Why is it so despised? I bought it on DVD at best buy for 8 bucks and it was worth the cash. ---

I haven’t seen it, but judging by the responses I’ve seen elsewhere yes, yes you are. Slight hijack, but on the cover of Punisher comics last year he was being drawn as just wearing a black t-shirt with a skull on the front. ---

I enjoyed it, but then I also bought StreetFighter - The Movie on DVD cos I enjoyed it so much. Maybe we need to start a club Stinkpalm? (Or a support group…) ---

I saw it when it first came out as a kid and I thought it totally ruled. Saw again a few weeks again and while it isn’t the end all be all its OK for some mindless movie watching. I wouldn’t run out and buy it though, not even for $8. ---

You’re not alone. Not me, I didn’t care for it that much, but my best friend likes it quite a bit. I gave her the DVD for her birthday last year. Well, though, thinking about it, the OP was whether anyone thought the movie was “decent.” So yeah, I guess I thought it was decent. ---

I haven’t seen it, actually. But I wanted to say: The oddest movie role that I’ve seen him in was _Showdown in Little Tokyo_. He plays opposite Brandon Lee…and plays the smart one. ---

No Skull on the shirt. Ergo, it sucked. Seriously, I hate it when Hollywood does costume revisionism. It worked in _X-Men_ and with the Green Goblin in _Spider-Man_, but it’s not that difficult to put a Skull on somebody’s shirt. ---

Yeah no kidding! Dolph had two ass-shots in that movie, I dont remember the Punisher showing off his sphincter muscle in the comics! Plus it was generally quite retarded, not enough blood n’ guts and female nudity! ---

I thought Dolph played the role well. But again, I was like, 10 when I watched and enjoyed it, so maybe it deserves another visitation. ---

One more vote for “decent.” And, just to cement my position as high priest of the church of _Cinema Merde_, I even thought **Captain America** was a fun movie. In fact, I’ve got both flicks on tape, and still watch 'em on occasion. The only superhero-type flick I can think of that actively turns me off would be the last Batman movie. And I still had to watch it a second time, strictly for Alicia Silverstone in black leather. [sub]Well, fast forward through it a second time, anyway.[/sub] Did the Punisher need an alchoholic poet sidekick informant? Not really, but hell, at least the guy might’ve been able to act his way out of a paper bag, in a rainstorm. And the climax of the flick (not the repeated butt-shot afterword) was pretty damned Frank Castle. You’re a bad guy, and a criminal. Yeah we worked together, but now that we don’t need each other, _BANG_ I really, really wanted to hear him doing a “war journal” voiceover during the movie, though. For once, inane exposition would have actually worked in a superhero flick. ---
