_Several times a day_ (usually at least three, and often more,) this website will time out. It’s unbelievably frustrating. This never ever ever has happened, not even a single time, on TalkBass, a bass player forum that uses the same interface that this one does. I don’t get it. Why is this always happening? Others have complained about it. **Johnny Hildo,** for one, who got banned for saying a lot of stupid stuff, but he was right about that one thing. I’m sick of the timeouts. I’m sick of the Dope not loading, especially right after I’ve composed a message and have hit “submit” and then it fucking times out. What gives? Am I alone here? Who else has this problem? What can be done? ---

I am on this forum fairly often. Maybe 30 minutes a day. And in the past year, it has never timed out. Never, not once, never ever. No idea what’s going on with the rest of you. I’m not saying there’s no problem with the board - it’s just peculiar that it doesn’t affect me. ---

Yes, I have several timeouts a day and have had since joining the boards in 2003. Different computers, different Internet connections, different browsers, matters not. I’m thinking of adding “The server at [boards.straightdope.com](http://boards.straightdope.com) is taking too long to respond” as my sig line – I certainly memorized it long enough ago – but I don’t want to be a jerk. Much. ---

The thing that is odd to me is that I will click mySDMB icon and it will load the main forum page instantly, and then I click to go into a forum and it also goes instantly. But at least 10 times a week it will time out when I click on an actual topic. Fucking irritating as hell. ---

No, it happens to me too. I hate it. p.s. regarding the new system, where you pay not to see ads… why would anyone do this when you can just use Firefox with Ad Block Plus and see no ads for _free_? I forgot we even had ads until I got on the SDMB from another computer without ABP on it. ---

It seems to happen to me mostly when I hit “submit”, too. At least lately. A couple weeks ago, I was having issues with the board loading at all, at times. Now it seems to be isolated to the submission of a post process (at least for me). I do have to say that it’s seems less prevalent now than it was a few weeks ago. ---

I used to have time-outs all the time, but after switching to Firefox they don’t happen much at all. Sometimes the board will hang, but if I wait 10 seconds and click the link again, then it works fine. I’m not saying it’s not a problem, just that it doesn’t affect me much anymore. ---

I have made this same post in the pit before, and dozens of people lined up to harrass me for it. Yeah, the board is unbelievably frustrating, but if you want to point it out you have to be prepared to defend yourself from the “love it or leave it” goofballs whose greatest pleasure in life is to type :sigh: emotes in the opening line of a reply ripe with scathing accusation. ---

This has got to be a whoosh. There have been multiple threads, usually weekly, about the crappy performance of this board. There have been ATMB threads. They disable search for awhile trying to improve performance. A multitude of charter members have left (or at least threatened to, I never followed up) over the issue. And now you start a thread asking if your the only one with the constant time outs? How can you have constant time outs if you apparently never read the board? But to answer your question. Yes, I get time outs… like apparently 90% of the rest of the members. ---

The bright side is that we can buy Upright Basses (anyone know if that’s good deep fried?) for only $450 bucks, and I never would have known that if I hadn’t visited this thread.
