By the way, was that Lithuanian she was thanking people in? If so, I give her credit for the extra courtesy.
Not sure, but I can ask my Uncle if they are watching this season and if it was Lithuanian (he’s second gen Canadian, his parents were born in Lithuania and he speaks the language as do my cousins.. I might ask him if he’s been there too, possibly. Some of the places looked familiar from photos of his trips back to see relatives.)
According to [this page](http://www.omniglot.com/language/phrases/lithuanian.php) of useful Lithuanian phrases, “Thank you” is “ačiū”, which certainly looks like what she was saying (I definitely remember thinking it sounded like a sneeze (“Achoo”)).
For those who don’t have the right character set, the last letter of the Lithuanian word is a “u”, with a bar accent above it. I didn’t see the placeholder when I posted this originally.
Really. Haven’t these people seen Hunt for Red October 20 times? (Sean Connery is the “Vilnius Schoolmaster”)
THANK YOU! I said the same thing at least eleven hundred times myself. “Vilnius, dammit! _Vill-nee-uss!_ Vilnius schoolmaster! _Red October!_ He’s not Russian, he’s Lithuanian by birth! Do you idiots live under a _rock_?” It was all very upsetting.

I get it when a place is pronounced differently than it is spelled, and perhaps is not a place people might have been expected to have heard of before. But this is the capital city of a country, and is spelled exactly as it sounds. Vilnius. Just say all the damn letters and you’ve got it. Sheesh.

But Red October was released almost 20 years ago and isn’t even really considered a “Jack Ryan” movie anymore because Alec Baldwin plays Jack Ryan. Most of the racers were little kids when it was released.

Of course, I was a little kid when it was released and I still sought it out in my teenagerhood after watching the two Harrison Ford “Ryan” movies and wanting to see the first. But I still didn’t remember Vilnius.

I still can’t figure out why no one did the obvious thing and started each team member at opposite ends and then compare notes. That way nobody gets in anybody else’s headspace with out-loud counting.
I think many of the happenings on the show have the same basic explanation: Being smart makes it less likely you will be made a contestant.
JWell, Azaria & Hendekea didn’t win this leg, and, gee, Jen and Nathan still didn’t come in first. Should the other teams have deferred to them? I was trying to remember if they were the couple where one had cheated; while I’m no fan of cheating, I do wonder what got him to go back to her, other than good looks. (OK, she could be good at other things, but are men really that desperate?)
I don’t recall seeing any cheating, even by NattyJen, but I probably simply didn’t notice. What are you referring to?

</div>

Excuse me. What I meant was Nathan and Jennifer were the couple where he cheated on her early in the relationship, well before they went on the show. I didn’t mean to imply they’d cheated in the race, and I don’t think they would.

I started watching TAR due to the wonderful threads on this board. I am now totally hooked and one of my life’s greatest disappointments is never to have heard “My ox is broken.”

It’s replacing Survivor on my must see TV list.

Thanks, I think.

As I think I’m the only person on this board who admitted to liking Colin and Christie, I still howled when he started crying and then screamed the famous line.

The show will probably never top season 5, but I’m really enjoying this season so far.

Outdoor Life Network (OLN) in Canada is showing re-runs of TAR, and is currenty on season 5. I think next week is the “my ox is broken” week. I can hardy wait.

Good episode…the gnome task wasn’t that irritating, so that didn’t bother me as much as in past seasons. I’m still pissed at myself for not buying the TWOP t-shirt that had “My Ox is Broken!” on it during that season. Stupid limited sales.

It really looked like that hair salon was much much harder to find than the bar. But props to The Grands for not panicing at the end and messing up the count. Keeping calm and collected directly helped them avoid elimination.
