**Ginger** , I don’t know how not-North you are, but I’m in Seattle, and if you can wait for me to copy it off the DVR this weekend, I’ll be glad to send you a copy. Gives me a chance to rewatch again with a good philantrophic answer when Mr. singular says, “Are you watching that _again??_” 😃

Someone wrote a few messages ago that Rob and Amber are taking up the space of some more worthy team, worthy only because they had not won a million dollars plus on SURVIVOR. Look at it from the point of view of CBS and TAR. Rob and Amber are a known quantity among SURVIVOR viewers (and there are a lot more SURVIVOR viewers than TAR viewers to this point), so they’re a built-in promotional hook. Whether you love 'em or hate 'em, you will probably tune in to see how they do. And so far they seem to be doing pretty well, even though they did have troubles with the nuances of their first car. We’ve complained in the past that we can’t tell the players apart. Rob and Amber are set apart from the rest of the players, who all seem to be pretty well differentiated this season, except for the thin blonde girls (with and without boobs). So, in my opinion, if Rob and Amber bring more eyes to TAR, good for them. And good for TAR. And good for CBS. And good for us! (. . . stepping quietly off soapbox and returning to real life. . .)

Am I the only one who thinks that Brian really looks like the guy who was in the Heineken beer commercial with Jennifer Aniston?

I’m not sure if it was aired in the US, though.

Parade rest. Military posture that’s in-between “attention” and “at ease”.

I’ve never seen parade rest that wide. IIRC, your feet should be as far apart as your shoulders. He didn’t have shoulders that wide, did he? My vote is for jock itch.

I would hate [Sl]ob, if for no other reason among all the others, because he has no nipples. C’mon, have you even seen him without a shirt on? It’s disgusting. What kind of sorry excuse for a male human genetic mutant freak has no nipples? He’s not even a genetic throw-back. Cro-magnon men had nipples. He’s like Three-mile-island toxic waste freaky.

> Well, I think the point of view is more nuanced than that, even if the nuance isn’t articulated. For example, I don’t recall anyone saying that Chip and Kim shouldn’t have won – even though their intro shot (nice house!) and bio (owning their own business) imply that they’re pretty well off.

Actually, Chip & Kim’s business partner had ripped them off and they were severely in debt, nearing bankruptcy and almost had to sell their beautiful house. So if it’s a question of “need”, they certainly deserved the million above all others.

As for 2nd place winners, they don’t get anywhere close to $100,000. Reichen (TAR4) does a weekly radio show on [The Fishbowl](http://www.thefishbowl.com/fishbowl/) where they discussed in detail what the runners-up get, and it was more like $25,000 for 2nd, $10,000 for 3rd, and a nice coffee mug for everyone else. 🙂 (I think it was the Hayden/Aaron show – check the archives.) The Air Traffic Controlers from TAR4 also said they got about $1750 (total) for finishing 8th.

It’s curious how there’s an even split between Romber likers and Romber haters, whereas Alison from TAR5 was universally hated…

He was referring to the 2nd place prize on Survivor, which is $100,000 - which Rob won.

Alison was from Big Brother - a show on which I have yet to observe a single likeable person (though I don’t watch that nearly as much as Survivor or TAR).

Familiarity breeds contempt. _Big Brother_ is not only shown three times a week when it’s running, it’s also got live feeds going 24/7 the entire time from the season premiere to the season finale. Nobody survives that long without gathering a little contempt. Although Jason (Sexy Flanders) from BB3 came close.

That’s not to say that Alison wasn’t a genuinely shitty human being in the first place, of course.
Because she was.

[nitpick]
Rob’s prize was actually $250K, since he was an “all star” and all. All the prizes for contestants that season except first place were increased (because these people all have major appearance fees, believe it or not).
[/nitpick]

yes they certainly do look alike, and he _is_ an actor/bartender, heh.

btw, what is up with Romber’s photo at [cbs.com](http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race7/teams/)? who is that person beside Amber?
oh, and what **annieclaus** said. this is my first viewing of TAR, because i’m curious how the two would fair.

There’s a very good reason to dislike Rob and Amber’s presence on TAR7.

It’s polluting a perfectly good TAR thread with talk of a POS show like Survivor.
