> How much of a baby was she?! “Oh, thanks for making me _CRY_!” Bitch, how old are you, anyway? That was pathetic.

In the Godlewskis’ defense, they’re sisters, and in my experience, sisters behave differently when they’re all together than they do when they’re with other people. I say things to my sister that are totally immature and stupid and pathetic that I would never dream of saying to anyone else on the planet. Things like, “Oh yeah?” and “I know you are, but what am I?” and “If you don’t do what I say, I’ll cry!” and “Shut up! I’m still dad’s favorite!” (I’m guess the Godlewski who said “You made yourself cry” is the oldest.) Also, if I am with any one of of my sisters at a time, we’re the best of friends, but put the three of us together and all hell breaks loose. So, I cut them a little slack. There are some things that sisters unfortunately never outgrow.

So I guess that’s why I still call my brother a douchebag–and we’re in our 30s. 😃

And for the record, Ma Weaver, master geographer, homeschooled her children until the death of their father, and now teaches elementary school.

What’s with the asterisks? Does that mean you hate them?

The Paolos are my favorite family, and the paper cut comment was hilarious. They bicker like only a true family can. Brian is very much his momma’s son, and throws her crap right back at her. And I love how dad just sits there silently through it all.

I was even going to make a joke earlier that I hoped she didn’t homeschool her kids.

Personally, I’m appalled at the father just sitting there while his sons disrespect their mother like that.

Now I don’t know if the sons are like that because the mother is such a harpy or if the mother is like that because her sons are so horribly disrespectful, but the father should be stepping in and at least defending his wife.

I hate that family. My blood boils every time they’re on screen. The sons are immature and disrespectful. The mother probably lost control years ago and doesn’t even know what to do anymore. She seems like she’s at her wits end. I feel bad for them. So much negativity. My family fought too, but we would at least have fun and genuinely liked/loved each other. Maybe it’s the editing, but I haven’t seen any evidence of love in this family–unlike the others.

> They really do open at 8 pm, and until Katrina they were only closed like two days a year. And people start lining up to get in by 6 pm, especially during the summer months. My guess is that since they left Hattiesburg by 8 am, and it’s only about a one-hour drive to the Detour site, they were at Preservation Hall by midday so could be there and gone well before the place actually started operating. I also liked the way they had the racers run through the front door to the hall and out the back into the courtyard, so they could get the musicians into the shot. It truly is the most artfully crummy building I have _ever_ seen _anywhere_. But the music is to die for.

They were playing _Saints_!

Somebody must must come up with the $5.00.

The way I see it, is momma is the little boy who cried wolf about eleventy billion times too many, and her boys know 99% of what comes out of her mouth is just meaningless whining, bitching & complaining. She taught them to disrespect her. Dad got tired of it years ago, and now he just sits there quietly and lets them bicker. If mom wanted her sons to respect her, she should have not only taught them to respect her at a young age, but also earned their respect at a young age.

If dad actually stepped in and said, “boys, shut up and respect your mother and listen quietly to everything she says. It’s important,” the boys would sit there listening to their mother bitch, whine and complain for about 24 hours straight and then put a bullet through their own brains just make it stop.

I rescind my earlier comments about the public school system. I think. At least other teachers can undo the damage that Ma Weaver might inflict. I suddenly have a greater appreciation for those dorky screen-size maps from middle school.

Exactly. It might also explain why I can call my sister a slutty sleazebag, but I’ll beat the snot out of anyone else who does. If someone else had made that Godlewski sister cry, I’m willing to bet big bucks that the other sisters would have been slashin’ some tires.

_bump_

Just saw a preview for next week’s episode during Survivor. They’re definitely leaving the country, and …

… they’ll be crossing the Panama Canal!

w00t! I don’t think they’ve done that in the Race before, so that ought to be cool beans.

Awesome! Based on that latest spoiler
we can hope that at least one team gets malaria!
Ah, I kill me 😉

Yup **lev** , I find that team of New Yorkers insulting and degrading. They’re a walking-talking stereotype that I hope never to meet. And that mother spewing nonsense strikes too close to home 😉

Ma Weaver teaches school? Talk about no kid left behind…

Sorry for the late bump folks, just got back from a business trip.

My mathematically generated predictions from last week:

> [@me](#):
>
> The Bransens will manage to hang on to their lead quite handily.
> The Paolos will finally get their crap together and move into 2nd, narrowly edging out the Schroeders, who will be left to battle neck and neck for places 3 or 4 with the Gaghans.
> The Gaghans will have overtaken the Godlewskis late in the leg, the latter team finishing 5th.
> The Linz’s will suffer a setback early, leaving them in a distant 6th.
> The Weavers will be quickly overtaken by the other teams, finsihing last, but my money’s on next week being the first non-elim.

The real finishing order:

Bransens
Paolos
Linzes
Godlewskis
Weavers
Gaghans
Schroeders

Picked the first two, but was wrong about the clear lead. Was right about the struggle between the Gaghans and the Schroeders, but wrong about their placement. The rest was way off. I’ve included this week’s results, and adjusted my mathematical techniques.

This week’s results for next week:

1. The Paolos: This team will continue to build on their solid performance this week, although their win will not be entirely due to their own efforts, even with the Fast Forward. I’d say Papa Paolo takes the long view, and can see his family’s love for one another despite constant bickering. Didn’t you feel the sheer pride he had for their efforts this week? And Mama Paolo could actually be seen hauling ass on a couple of occasions. **zut** may just be right about this bunch.

2. The Linzes: They will pull out the stops, and continue to close in on the top spot, but will not quite get there next week. Look for a close finish behind the Paolos.

3. The Godlewskis: Will run a steady race. No major gains or losses.

4 & 5. Gaghans and Weavers: Both will suffer some setbacks, and low R-squared value of the Weavers’ trendline makes it difficult to predict what will happen. A dead heat for second-to-last place is the best I can predict. I have to say, kudos to Mom Weaver for perhaps getting an inkling that she is fueling her childrens’ reactions. She pulled it together, and the race-track task became a cathartic moment for them, which was probably why the show chose the locale in the first place. The Gaghans are starting to feel the backward pull of their kids’ limitations, as well as the parents’ numerous instances of poor judgement.

1. The Bransens: They will suffer a major setback early, such as an interminable delay, a breakdown, or maybe Dad collapsing, that lands them dead last. Their only hope is the first non-elim popping up, assuming they even cross the finish line.

So the Bransens do themselves in, and everyone else remains in the same order, with a possible toss-up between the Gaghans and the Weavers for last among the teams with a chance. If I’m right, it’s be a yawner next week.
