A couple of weeks ago, I answered a personal ad on [excite.com](http://excite.com) of a girl that seemed pretty darn good (she even said she likes sushi!). Well, she responded and things looked good. Until I tried to reply.
Her email account (Hotmail) refused messages. The responses I got said “unknown user”.
The homepage that she sent me a URL for (angelfire) in her message was not found. And the ad that I originally responded to was taken down. At this point, I have absolutely no way to contact her. Which puzzled me, but I just wrote it off.

Today, I received email from her (from a different hotmail address, and using a _different name_) saying that she had gotten a new computer and found my email address as she was setting it up. She said she was going to be in my neighborhood and was wondering whether we could meet. “Cool”, I thought, a second chance.

So, I replied, hoping to set something up.
But the email was rejected by hotmail again. This time the message was that her account was full. So I figured I’d wait a couple of hours, and send again, hoping she’d have cleared it out.

Well, I sent again a couple of hours later, and it was again refused with the “unknown user” message.

Right now, I’m wondering just what the hell is going on, and whether I should bother trying any more.

Any thoughts? Anyone experienced something similar? Is this some sort of weird psychological experiment?

Stop now and save yourself the aggravation. The pattern here is obvious.

I’ll have to ditto Mr. Blue Sky. She’s playing. At the very best, the ball’s in her court, but I’m not sure I’d return another serve. If she’s like that in cyberworld, the reality can only be agony.

She may be toying with you like no tomorrow.

Or she may have set up hotmail’s protection against spam filter and its working! Like the similar deal for phones, its not going to let you in unless she has given it your addy. She may just be being less than brilliant about her e-mail accounts. (This is why I avoid putting such filters on, I am the flaky sort that would forget when to take them off)

I’d give her a shot to screw you over IRL at least once before blowing her off. I could be wrong though, she could be sitting at her computer cackling madly at your pitiful attempts to contact her and thinking about what mazes she can run you through next.

If you really have no way to get in touch, don’t sweat it. If she finds you, don’t hold it against her.
