I give him credit for coming out of his shell, but now he doesn’t have a large enough voice to back it up. ---

This show has sunk so low at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sanjaya take the whole thing. While I love Lakisha and Melinda’s voices, neither of them is really that charismatic. I’d be more apt to go see Blake or Jordin in concert over both of them. E. ---

Lakisha and Melinda, Melinda especially, just have no “magnetic onstage personality” happening. And everything they sing sounds the same. I wouldn’t pay for an album or see either of them in concert. ---

I’d go see Blake, but not Jordin. I’d go see Melinda, but not Lakisha. That said, I would like to see Melinda do something besides a show tune or equivalent. I’d like to see her do, say, Ramalama (Bang Bang) by Roisin Murphy. ---

They seem to have ODd on easy listening and non-contemporary this year with _British Invasion_, _Diana Ross_, _Gwen’s Cheesy Ass Influences_, etc… Even Elton would have been better as at least he’s had some hits in the last 20 years (yeah, I know, Gwen has too, but somehow her “influences” sounded more dated than British invasion week). I’m half expecting Julie Andrews to pop in- Sanjaya does a funk version of _I Could Have Danced All Night_, Blake kicks ass with a techno _Chim Chim Cheree_, Jordin causes suicides in Dayton and Sacramento with a mournful _Edelweiss_ and Lakisha performs a Victor/Victoria medley dressed in a tuxedo. ---

I realize these singers should demonstrate some range but seriously, why should they have to prove they can perform in the musical styles of previous decades? No one’s going to hire them to sing Tony freaking Bennett. (One Michael Buble in the world is enough, thank you.) It would be like asking the contestants on Project Runway to design costumes for a biopic of Josephine Baker: Amusing to watch them struggle, perhaps, but ultimately irrelevant to the point of the show. ---

Did anyone else catch Chris S.'s comment to Phil during the goodbye sequence? I think he said “You owe me 50 bucks.” Makes me think they were betting which of them would go. 🙂 ---

You know who’d be great if they just have to have tribute nights (if they have the rights to her hits)? Tina Turner. She has four decades of hits to choose from and it’s really a chance to see what the finalists have got, cause Tina “never [did] anything nice… and easy”. ---

_Don’t laugh at me for saying the following_. I don’t watch the show, so I don’t know if what was posted upthread was true, or whether the following makes any sense. If it’s true that Simon controls the recording contract of the winner (is the winner locked into that?), wouldn’t he possibly record an album by Sanjaya, if he somehow won, and either sit on it or produce/market it poorly? And, if so, wouldn’t it be \*simply brilliant \* of Sanjaya to ride this as far as he can, quit right before any possible win and use his notoriety to garner a conract/marketing deal somewhere else and release a “novelty” album ('cause he sure can’t sing). _Don’t snarl at me for saying the following_. I can’t help it; I think Sanjaya is just so darn pretty. ---

If William Hun g could get an album, I could see Sanjaya getting one even if he goes no further. And don’t forget he gets to go on tour with the Top 10 so he won’t be done when he gets booted. Tina Turner, eh? Haley can show even more skin while singing Private Dancer. ---

Did anyone else notice how subdued the applause was for Sanjaya? I hope all this fatigue over him doesn’t turn into something outright rude. As much as I want him gone, I don’t want him to be hurt. He’s not THAT pissy yet. ---
