> IIRC, at the last census (2010), there was a $150 fine if you refused to answer questions on the census form or from a door-to-door census taker. I refused to answer any except the number of persons living in my household. I’m still waiting for the bill.

No, you won’t get it - you did the legal minimum. The rest of the questions come under “it would be nice if you answer because we’d like to know”.

Honestly, I’ve never heard of anyone getting fined. It’s possible, but I don’t know if it’s ever been done.

Nope - it’s based on where you lived on a particular day. I suppose if that happened to be your moving day you could choose one address or the other, but you shouldn’t be counted twice.

I got one and I doubt that I will answer it. It is not the business of anybody but myself how many bathrooms I have, or how many people in my household( just me) have internet access. And those are some of the less snoopy questions.

That ship has sailed. I can go online to my county assessor’s website and tell you how many bathrooms there are in any house in our county. (and what they paid for the house, and usually even pull up a photo)

As far as number of people in your household, they are required to ask by the Constitution (Article I, Section 2)

I’ve seen plenty of censuses that duplicate people or families even in other counties. Not prevalent by any means, but it can happen.

Yeah, it is a census, why not just count the number of people in the household, damn their stats!
